Martin Moszkowicz says only ‘CITY OF ASHES’ will be filmed this year

City of Ashes

Executive producer Martin Moszkowicz has shot down speculation that The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes and The Mortal Instruments: City of Glass will be filmed back-to-back in 2013.

City of Ashes is slated to begin production in the fall with Harald Zwart returning to direct.

The back-to-back filming has been mentioned a number of times, as a means to save production costs, etc., but it sounds like ultimately Constantin Film felt it best to focus on one film at a time.

Of course this could mean a number of things. Constantin Film could be waiting to see how well The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones fares at the box office in August, Zwart could want his full attention on one film at a time or hasn’t yet negotiated a contract for the third film, or production on City of Glass could actually begin in 2014, which is technically “next year.”

Emphasis on this year !!!but we could still end up with two films being filmed in the next twelve months especially if the city of bones is a big hit. !!!

  4. TeamEdwardJace says:

i’d love to see both films this year but maybe they’ll chane their mind. i think tmi will do great@ it could be that, city of glass gets filmed very early 2014 and then wee it at the end of 2014 or in 2015. i hope they film all the movies!

  5. Scavenger says:

I think this is good. Even if it saves production costs, I think the movies will turn out better if they dont rush them to save some bucks. Obviously, as already pointed out, this also is the way to mitigate risk if green-lighting the follow-up now.

  6. oh jace... says:

i bet its cuz most of CoG takes place in idris…not in new York. I mean they probably have to find someplace to film it

  7. WILL/JEM says:

yay! thank god they are not gonna be like percy jackson because that movie has a really big gap from the 1st to the 2nd!!!!

  8. I hope they get to film in Toronto again! I never got a chance to meet them.
