EXCLUSIVE interview with ‘Will’ from the CLOCKWORK PRINCESS book trailer

CP2Will1

Last week the book trailer for Clockwork Princess premiered to much fan fervor and we’ve been rolling out exclusive interviews with director Charles Haine and trailer Jem, Yoshi Sudarso.

This time we’re bringing you an exclusive interview with our book trailer Will Herondale, who was played by Skyler Hart.

Skyler also just happens to be good friends with Yoshi. Real life friends playing parabatai–how cool is that?!

Check out our interview with Skyler below:

Can you tell us about the audition and casting process?

I got involved with this project just like any actor does; by auditioning for the role and giving it my all. I was submitted through one of the big casting sites and was lucky enough that Cassandra and the casting team chose me to portray Will. It was funny because I was on hold for three different jobs the day this filmed. One tv and one other commercial but luckily it worked out and I got to do this one and play such a cool character.

CP2Will2What did you know about The Infernal Devices before filming and what do you know now?

I didn’t know too much about the series before we started filming except what I got from a few basic web searches. I only had time to briefly go over and find out who this character was online and on set while shooting. Since then I have done a lot more research and talked to people who have read the books to find out more about this incredible fictional world. It was pretty cool to see how many die hard fans Cassandra and this series has.

What were you told about Clockwork Princess and the relationship between your character and the other characters?

Again I only vaguely knew about my character and the others before coming to set on the shoot date. Charles and the production team had outlines of the book so they tried to explain it and make the scenes as clear as possible for us actors.

How challenging was it to portray a character from a different time?

I didn’t really look at the time difference in the character as an obstacle to playing him. Love stories and the emotions humans feel are timeless and cannot be changed by the clothes we wear.

What was it like shooting with the other actors?

Shooting with Kiersten (Tessa) was great. I think she said she was a little newer to acting so I tried to give her a little industry advice on getting more into it. Overall she was a real sweetheart to work with and did a great job as you can tell. I did NOT get to work with my real life buddy Yoshi, as they had a different actor playing his part the day that I shot.

Were you able to relate to Will?

Totally. Me and Will have quite a bit in common when it comes to personality. I have a reckless part of me that Will seems to live by most of the time. I am also extremely stubborn and tend to hide my emotions from others.

CLOCKWORK PRINCESS book trailer to debut Thursday on Entertainment Weekly at 9 a.m. ET

Clockwork Princess

The Clockwork Princess book trailer will premiere Thursday at 9 a.m. ET on Entertainment Weekly (EW.com).

Cassandra Clare shared the news on Twitter on Tuesday:

The trailer is being produced by Dirty Robber, the production company behind the previous Clockwork Prince and City of Lost Souls book trailers, and the girl on the Clockwork Princess cover will star as Tessa.

No word yet on exactly what time the trailer will debut, but stay tuned to TMIsource.com for details when they break.

Here’s what Clare told EW.com about Clockwork Princess in an interview last November:

It was really fun to write because it takes place all over England and Wales. I went to England and Wales and mapped out the routes the characters would take. Part of the reason I wanted to write The Infernal Devices is to have this huge love of the gothic romances of the Victorian era. I wanted to end it on that note. So there are mistaken identities. There is a headlong race on horseback across the countryside in the dead of night to rescue someone. And Tessa, of course, is torn between the two boys she loves.

Clockwork Princess is less than a month away from its March 19 release.

Fans can look forward to an interactive reading of the first chapter of Clockwork Princess next week, Clare shared earlier in the day.

Five Questions Raised by ‘City of Lost Souls’ Book Trailer

The countdown to the highly-anticipated release of City of Lost Souls has dipped below the three week mark and after the trailer debuted on EW.com on Wednesday there are more questions than ever about what lies in store for the characters.

Credit: Dirty Robber

After watching the trailer a dozen or so times (but hey, who’s counting?) here are some of the many questions the trailer raised:

1. What is Sebastian’s Plan for Jace?

That’s a major question that fans have been wondering since the City of Fallen Angels cliffhanger last April. It looked originally that Sebastian had a plan for Jace, but after watching that trailer it looks as if he’s using Jace to get to Clary. Surely Sebastian must have a plan for Jace, as well, but it looks like Clary is the object of his attention.

2. What are Sebastian’s Intentions with Clary?

When Sebastian says, “I have a sister and I will teach her to love me,” it was a line that struck a cord with the fandom. Cassandra Clare recently pointed out that Sebastian’s intentions are supposed to be uncertain at this point. She also insisted that incest, which played a role in the first three installments, is a recurring theme in the series. So perhaps Sebastian’s intention to make his sister love him may not be in the familial way.

3. What Happens When Sebastian Comes Face-to-Face with Jocelyn?

Who could forget this teaser: “Well, hello there, Mother,” Sebastian said in a voice like silk. “Surprised to see me?”. We all know how Sebastian feels about his mother, “I had a mother, but she is dead to me,” he said in the trailer. This face-to-face meeting is a scene that is sure to be deadly terrifying.

4. What Happens to Clary and Jace?

Certainly everyone is wondering what lies in store for Clary and Jace. City of Lost Souls introduces a Jace that fans nor Clary is used to. No doubt their relationship will tested in this next installment and we have to wonder that if Jace goes too far if Clary would be able to still stand by him?

5. How Will the Events in ‘Lost Souls’ Set Up ‘Heavenly Fire?’

We know Sebastian’s plan is to “burn down the world,” but with one book remaining certainly that plan will go into full effect in the series’ conclusion in City of Heavenly Fire. With a cliffhanger surely on the horizon, what will go down in City of Lost Souls to set up what is sure to be an emotionally gripping City of Heavenly Fire?

Fans Sound Off: Favorite Moments from ‘City of Lost Souls’ Book Trailer

The City of Lost Souls book trailer debuted to much fan fervor late Wednesday morning and looked more like a movie trailer than a book trailer.

The production value was one of the many things that fans were raving about.

If you haven’t already, be sure to tweet Dirty Robber (@dirtyrobber) and tell them what you liked most.

Don’t expect this to be the last you see of Dirty Robber in conjunction with Shadowhunters series.

According to Cassandra Clare, her publisher has grown quite fond of the Dirty Robber crew and expect them back for more trailers.

‘City of Lost Souls’ Book Trailer Premiere

Photo: Dirty Robber

The highly anticipated book trailer for City of Lost Souls premiered on Entertainment Weekly late Wednesday morning.

Produced by Dirty Robber, the folks behind the Clockwork Prince book trailer, the trailer takes a dark look at Sebastian and his plans for City of Lost Souls.

>WATCH IT AT EW.COM

City of Lost Souls will be released on May 8th (less than three weeks now!).

Cassandra Clare wrote the script, which Dirty Robber used to create the trailer.

“My name is Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern. I had a father but he is dead. I have a mother but she is dead to me. I have a brother and I will bind him to me. I have a sister and I will teach her to love me. My name is Jonathan, but everyone calls me Sebastian. And I am going to burn down the world.”

Clare had this to say about the trailer:

In answer to a few questions: I didn’t know Sebastian was going to have a British accent till he opened his mouth in the trailer. I kind of like it though. I wrote the script for the trailer (text above) and Dirty Robber took it and created all the imagery. The girl wrapping the scarf around Seb’s neck is Clary.

A cool tidbit about the actor portraying Jace in the trailer: He is indeed the same guy on the City of Lost Souls cover and he will be making an appearance at Cassandra Clare’s book launch in Naperville, IL on May 8.

Also, Natalie C. Markey of TMI Examiner did an awesome interview with Dirty Robber and found out that the City of Lost Souls trailer will be featured on television. Details coming.

What was your favorite part of the trailer? Does the trailer have you worried about the events that go down in City of Lost Souls?
