Guest Post: CLOCKWORK PRINCESS signing in Vancouver

Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Princess book tour wrapped up in Vancouver, BC, last Tuesday (March 26) and one of our readers, Julia, was in attendance and provided us with a report of the event, as well as some fantastic photos (thanks for the shout-out Cassie and Sarah!)

Take it away, Julia:

The line-up began at 1:30pm and gathered the four hundred fans who had attained wristbands to the event when they purchased Clockwork Princess on March 19th.  By the time the Clockwork Princess tour bus pulled up to the building at approximately 5:45pm, the line-up weaved around the bookcases throughout the entire store.

Before Cassandra and Sarah entered, the first eighty fans in line were ushered into seats surrounding the stage area, and the event DJ entertained fans by asking trivia questions and tossing large Rune decals to the crowd.   The other three hundred plus people in line were handed bookmarks decorated with the movie logo and temporary Rune tattoos.  Two people who were dressed as Tessa and Will also circulated the line to pose for photos with the jittery fans.  The woman dressed as Tessa wore a Victorian style red gown and Tessa’s angel necklace that was later raffled off.

CLOCKWORK PRINCESS debuts at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list

Clockwork Princess, the final installment of The Infernal Devices, has debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list. The Infernal Devices has also overtaken The Hunger Games as #1 best selling series.

Here’s what The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones executive producer Martin Moszkowicz had to say:

Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Princess was the best selling book in the US last week (across children’s AND adult categories – nothing sold better – or even close). Thus, Infernal Devices is #1 on the NYT series list – ahead of The Hunger Games and Beautiful Creatures, and TMI moved up from #7 to #6 on the same list!

A huge congratulations to Cassandra Clare. Two well-deserved honors.

Photos + Recap: CLOCKWORK PRINCESS signing in Mesa

Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Princess book tour kicked off Tuesday in Mesa, Arizona. One of our readers, Bernice, was in attendance and provided us with some photos and her account of the event.

The Clockwork Princess bus is large. The inside from what I could see looked comfortable and inviting with a fancy sink and plush chairs. Not a bad way to spend several days riding around the west meeting groups of people who adore you. I’ll admit I wish I was on it. The idea of spending a week with these three funny, sweet, intelligent women would be alluring to anyone.

I did have the pleasure- along with a few hundred other people- of spending some time with them on Tuesday in Mesa, AZ. There were fancy dresses, goofy dances and serious questions. Cassie was gracious and did her best to answer all the questions that she possibly could in the very short time she was allotted. I’m sure we all would have been happy to sit there for hours listening to her talk about the series we all love. As well as the three series we have yet to read The Bane Chronicles (co-written with Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan), The Dark Artifices and The Magisterium (co-written with Holly Black).

Spoiler-free CLOCKWORK PRINCESS review: A fitting end to an epic trilogy

Saying goodbye is hard to do. Especially when it comes to an epic trilogy with beautiful characters that have touched your heart and a story that has captivated you for the past three years.

I’ve never been scared to read a book before. Anxious and nervous, yes, but never scared. Leading up to Clockwork Princess, I found myself worried for the fates of my favorite characters in their final act in this Victorian London Shadowhunter tale.

But it wasn’t just worry for the characters, it was the sad realization that the series was coming to an end and this is the last time we would see these characters except in re-reads.

Clockwork Princess was all I was hoping for and more. There was so much hype and anticipation leading up to the final installment of The Infernal Devices, and I can say with complete and utter confidence that it did not disappoint. It far exceeded  my expectations as all of Cassandra Clare’s books tend to do.

I believe Clare has outdone herself with Clockwork Princess. It’s easily my favorite book of hers and provided everything a fan of this series would like to experience, even things they didn’t know they’d want to experience.

I’ve never cried more while reading a book than I did reading Clockwork Princess. Sad tears, happy tears, laugh-til-you’re-silly tears. I cried them all. It was the culmination of a truly special trilogy with truly unforgettable characters that feel so alive that sometimes you forget you’re reading their story instead of watching it unfold in front of you.

There were moments where I was crying on one page and laughing on the next. It’s that emotional journey that makes the end result of the book and the series so meaningful and so deserving.
