Tune Tuesday: ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ by Swedish House Mafia

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “Don’t You Wanna Child” by Swedish House Mafia – comes from TMI Source reader Sydney.

“The first verse describes Jace as he was a child living in the Wayland Manor and the chorus reminds me of when Valentine killed him by Lake Lyn. And about half way through the song he speaks about meeting a girl of a different kind, Clary. And later says he thinks of her now and then…which is a slight understatement, considering Jace and Clary were always thinking of each other when they thought they were siblings,” Sydney wrote.

“Don’t You Wanna Child” by Swedish House Mafia

There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind.
We ruled the world,
I thought I’d never lose her out of sight.
We were so young, I think of her now and then.

Lyrics:

“Don’t You Worry  Child” by Swedish House Mafia

There was a time
I used to look into my father’s eyes.
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a golden throne.
Those days are gone,
Now the memory’s on the wall.
I hear the songs
From the places where I was born.Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That’s where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind.
We ruled the world,
I thought I’d never lose her out of sight.
We were so young, I think of her now and then.
I still hear the songs reminding me of a friend.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That’s where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh!

See heaven’s got a plan for you
[Live version repetitions:]
See heaven’s got a plan for you
See heaven’s got a plan for you

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! [3x]
Yeah!

Tune Tuesday: ‘City of Angels’ by 30 Seconds to Mars

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “City of Angels” by 30 Seconds to Mars – comes from TMI Source staffer Megan.

“I think the perspective (though in Los Angeles) is almost exactly Jace. It talks about overcoming and trying to be strong when really you have your own fears to deal with,” she wrote.

“City of Angels” by 30 Seconds to Mars

There was truth
There was consequence
Against you, weep defense
Then there’s me, I’m seventeen
Looking for a fight

Lyrics:

“City of Angels” by 30 Seconds to Mars

There was truth, there was consequence, against you.
A weak defense, then there’s me
I’m 17, and looking for a fight.
All my life, I was never there just a ghost, running scared.
Here our dreams are made, the one.

Lost in the city of angels
Down in the comfort of strangers. I
Found myself in the fire burnt hills.
In the land of a billion lights.

Bought my fate, straight from hell.
A second sight is paid off well.
For a mother, a brother and me
The silver of the lake at night.
The hills of Hollywood on fire.
A boulevard of hope and dreams
And streets made of desire.

Lost in the city of angels
Down in the comfort of strangers. I
Found myself in the fire burnt hills.
In the land of a billion lights.
I Found myself in the fire burnt hills
In the land of a billion lights

(Land of the billion lights)
(Land of the billion lights)
(Land of the billion lights)
(Land of the billion lights)

(Angels, Angels)

I am home, home, home, home.

Lost in the city of angels
Down in the comfort of strangers. I
Found myself in the fire burnt hills.
In the land of a billion lights.

One night, One love. (repeat)

The city of angels  (repeat).

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “Clarity” by Zedd feat. Foxes – comes from TMI Source reader Aurelie.

“The lyrics really reminded me of Jace and Clary, especially, ‘You are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need.’ Anyone who has read the books will know why this song is perrrrrfect,” she wrote.

“Clarity” by Zedd feat. Foxes

Cause you are the piece of me
I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly
Still fight and I don’t know why

If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy
If our love’s insanity why are you my clarity

LYRICS

“Clarity” by Zedd feat. Foxes

High dive into frozen waves
where the past comes back to life
Fight fear for the selfish pain
And it’s worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash
Cause we both know how this ends
our clock ticks till it breaks your glass
And I drown in you againCause you are the piece of me
I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly
Still fight and I don’t know why

If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy
If our love’s insanity why are you my clarity

walk on through a red parade
And refuse to make amends
It cuts deep through our ground
And makes us forget all common sense
Don’t speak as I try to leave
Cause we both know what we’ll choose
If you pull, then I’ll push too deep
And I’ll fall right back to you

Cause you are the piece of me
I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly
Still fight and I don’t know why

If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy
If our love’s insanity why are you my clarity

…Why are you my remedy
…Why are you my remedy

If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy
If our love’s insanity why are you my clarity

LYRICS

“Lost” by RED

Can I be dreaming once again?
I’m reaching helpless I descend
You lead me deeper through this maze
I’m not afraid

I’m lost in you everywhere I run
Everywhere I turn I’m finding something new
Lost in you, something I can’t fight
I cannot escape
I could spend my life lost in you! Lost in you!

Your whispers fill these empty halls
I’m searching for you as you call
I’m racing, chasing after you
I need you more

I’m lost in you everywhere I run
Everywhere I turn I’m finding something new
Lost in you, something I can’t fight
I cannot escape
I could spend my life lost in you!

I could never be the same
Something that I never could erase
I could never look away
I lost myself in you!
It’s all over now!

Lost in you! Everywhere I run
Lost in you! Everywhere I run!
Lost in you!
Lost in you!

“P.O.W.” by Bullet For My Valentine

In my darkest hour
A place where there’s no light
I’m trapped here in this nightmare
And there’s no end in sight

My body lies here frozen
No voice to scream or shout
Escape, it feels untouchable
I know I must get out

LYRICS

“P.O.W.” by Bullet For My Valentine

In my darkest hour
A place where there’s no light
I’m trapped here in this nightmare
And there’s no end in sightMy body lies here frozen
No voice to scream or shout
Escape, it feels untouchable
I know I must get out

[Chorus:]
Wake my…
Wake myself from all this danger
Claw my…
Claw myself from six feet under
No, no more
Am I stuck here like a prisoner of war
I will breathe once more
I will breathe once more

These feeling’s overwhelming
It just won’t go away
I’m captive in this nightmare
And this is where I’ll stay

[Chorus]

My anxiety is rising
It just won’t go away
All this tension keeps building
Please, just leave me to die

Make, make, make it go away
All I wanna do is live another day
Make, make, make it go away
All I wanna do is live another day

[Chorus]

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “Bones” by Ms Mr – comes from TMI Source reader Adrianna.

The lyrics throughout the entire song apply to The Mortal Instruments so beautifully but the line ‘Boy with a broken soul, heart with a gaping hole’ sums up Jace perfectly.

“Bones” by Ms Mr

Dig up her bones but leave the soul alone
Boy with a broken soul
Heart with a gaping hole
Dark twisted fantasy turned to reality

LYRICS

“Bones” by Ms Mr

[Verse 1]
Dig up her bones but leave the soul alone
Boy with a broken soul
Heart with a gaping hole
Dark twisted fantasy turned to reality
Kissing death and losing my breath
Midnight hours cobble street passages
Forgotten savages, forgotten savages[Hook]
Dig up her bones but leave the soul alone
Let her find a way to a better place
Broken dreams and silent screams
Empty churches with soulless curses
We found a way to escape the day

[Verse 2]
Dig up her bones but leave the soul alone
Lost in the pages of self made cages
Life slips away and the ghosts come to play
These are hard times
These are hard times for dreamers
And love lost believers

[Hook]

[Verse 3]
Candybar creep show
My highs hit a new low
Marinate in misery
Like a girl of only 17
Man made madness
And the romance of sadness
A beautiful dance that happened by chance
Happened by chance, happened by chance

[Hook]

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “Dark Again” by Gold Fields – comes from TMI Source reader Robin.

I absolutely love this song, the lyric ‘we’ve been living with the lights out’ really reminds of Clary,;as before meeting Jace – as wellas Magnus – she was totally in the dark about her heritage, especially seeing as her memories were tampered with…

“Dark Again” by Gold Fields

Deep sleeper, slow blinker
Wake up to what we’ve found
Slow faker, heart breaker
Broke free, we’re heaven bound

Tune Tuesday: ‘Resistance’ by Muse

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday – “Resistance” by Muse – comes from TMI Source reader Lucy.

The song reminds me of Jace and Clary’s relationship but also kinda of Malec’s too. As the song is saying is this right or is this wrong which with Jace and Clary in the first book they are unsure of since they may be related. With Malec it as Shadowhunters aren’t meant to be gay.

“Resistance” by Muse

Love is our resistance
They’ll keep us apart and they won’t to stop breaking us down
Hold me
Our lips must always be sealed

Tune Tuesday: ‘Curl Up and Die’ by Relient K

Every Tuesday here at TMI Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices or The Dark Artifices.

This week’s Tune Tuesday– “Curl Up and Die” by Relient K–comes from TMI Source staffer Megan.

Ever since hearing this song I have thought that its perfect for Jem. The songs’ lyrics seem to express the feelings about someone who is dying and accepted it but the ones around them have not. I am not a Jem/Tessa shipper but this song makes me feel for Jem. It feels like Jem to me because all Jem wants to do is accept his fate and curl up with Tessa and die… in peace. It most definitely gives me “Jem feels” which is not an easy thing to do!

“Curl Up and Die” by Relient K

You see sometimes things are just beyond control

But I don’t mind
But I’m not surprised to find that you do
I’m not surprised to find that you do
I know you do

And I feel fine
But I know the same does not apply to you
I know the same does not apply to you
So I guess that I’ll curl up and die, too.

This week’s Tune Tuesday–“Never Let Me Go” by Florence and the Machine–comes from TMI Source reader Victoria. And it just so happens that our Jace–Jamie Campbell Bower–starred in the music video.

It reminds me of Jace and Clary’s relationship; how they support each other, especially when Jace was taken over, and Clary kept him grounded.

“Never Let Me Go” by Florence and the Machine

And it’s breaking over me
A thousand miles down to the sea bed
Found the place to rest my head
Never let me go
Never let me go
Never let me go
Never let me go

This week’s Tune Tuesday comes from TMI Source reader JB.

I could hear this song during one of the action sequences when the shadow hunters are hunting demons or even in the trailer. I think it is really fitting.

In the shadows for my time
I’ve been searching
