Back in 2009, Constantin Film and Unique Features acquired the rights to Cassandra Clare’s international bestselling The Mortal Instruments series. While it’s been a long and arduous process from book to screen, one that Clare has been active in, the film picked up speed in 2012. Sony Pictures/Screen Gems signed on to distribute the film.
Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, Lena Headey and Jonathan Rhys Meyers lead the cast for the first novel City of Bones. Filming begins in August 2012, in Toronto and New York City and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set for an August 23, 2013 theatrical release.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons.
