TID Movie News: Stephanie Sanditz penning CLOCKWORK ANGEL script, search for director underway
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Constantin Film has moved forward on development of The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel adaptation and that Stephanie Sanditz will be penning the script.
They have also reported that the search for a director is underway.
Young adult franchise hopeful The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones doesn’t open until August 23, but Constantin Films is already working on a prequel.
The company has thrown into development Infernal Devices, an adaptation of the spin-off book series written by Mortal Instruments author Cassandra Clare, and has hired Stephanie Sanditz to write the screenplay.
Mortal Instruments, a best-selling series of fantasy romance books, centers on a young girl who discovers she is part of a hidden race of angels known as Shadowhunters locked in a battle with warlocks and vampires called Downworlders.
Infernal Devices is set in Victorian England and sees a new teen girl plunged into a journey of adventure and self-discovery. The books feature the ancestors of many Mortal Instruments characters as well as some character overlap.
Three books, titled Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess, have been published.
Constantin is also on the hunt for a director to bring on Infernal Devices.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones isn’t set to hit theaters until Aug. 23, but Constantin Film is already hard at work on the prequel series. It shows they have a lot of confidence in the Mortal Instruments film franchise.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes and The Mortal Instruments: City of Glass, the sequels to City of Bones, would film back-to-back if green-lit. If The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel is green-lit it would most likely be released after those two, but could start production soon after.

Is it bad that I’m maybe a little more excited for this movie than for the TMI movie?
Not to me. I love MI but am much more facinated with ID and the who time period. Women were finally standing up for themselves, gadgets were being invented that are the forerunners for todays technology, and Will. Not to mention seeing Magnus in BOTH movies! Ahhh, I think Id die.
Not at all. Presonally I want to see them both about the same. But TID I cant’ wait to see the Victorian era. Plus I’m really intersted in seeing how they make the Clockwork army.

Ireally love the look of the Sherlock Holmes movies, starring Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law. It’s the exact same time period as the Infernal Devices and Jack the Ripper. It’s such a dark period for London. I seriously hope that Infernal Devices makes it to the big screen! I think it will make more of an impact than Mortal Instruments. Just imagine Will on the big screen. *sigh* talk about melting in your seat.

I really have great expectations for clockwork angel. Im fairly new to the mortal instruments but i really want to see this movie come to the big screen! 🙂
I hope that they do the movies in like an opposite order. City of Bones (2013), Clockwork Angel (2014), City of Ashes (2015), Clockwork Prince (2016), you get the idea. After (hopefully) the Clockwork Princess film, they will start on The Dark Artifices. So excited!

Why i have a feeling that they will get a different actor for Magnus Bane for TID movies?? i love Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane but he is such a newbie to the whole Hollywood movie shindigs and i think if TMI COB gets seriously huge at the box office the higher power in Hollywood might want to cast someone from the A-list royalties of actors to play Magnus Bane just for the added glamour and fame ya know? i seriously hope they won’t do that because Godfrey Gao is Magnus Bane to me and if they change actor just to suit Hollywood politics then i will boycot the whole movie series Asap…

Yay! I can’t wait, it will be amazing! But I’m still scared at the same time. For some reason, my mental images of Will, Jem and Tessa were much more vivid than those of the TMI characters. I just know I’ll be disappointed when I see the casting because they can’t possibly find people who look just right AND portray the characters perfectly. Still, it should be good, and I can overlook things like that!
Am i the only one who doesn´t want a movie of TID?? For what i am reading i´m not. I don´t think they will be able to find a perfect Will and a perfect Jem! Or to be able to tell the story in a right way! I am really worried cos i love TID so so so much!

I was seriously hoping to hear these kinds of plans were getting set to roll, it’s good to learn they have confidence that this franchise can really make it just like I do. Plus, the earlier the planning starts, the less and less rushed everything can be(-Right?!), and my hope is that t’will positively impact the quality of the production(and the overall end-result of the film) – all around. 😀
My vote is for Tom Sturridge as Will, and Eiji Wentz( or someone that I do not yet know of who is actually Chinese but with a [kind of ]similar look to Eiji Wentz) as Jem. : }
And, I say they should keep it consistent and have Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane for all of the movies.
ALSO, I think that a musical score done by Trevor Morris would be totally awesome for The Infernal Devices!!! ^_^

I personally think Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey would make a nice Tessa. Too old? A young version of Michelle Dockery would be great. 🙂 Can’t wait!
