Early Tuesday morning we reported that it was rumored that Sony Pictures had pushed up the U.S. release date of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones from Aug. 23 to Aug. 21.
Cassandra Clare confirmed the exciting news to us on Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m really excited because it means the fans will get to see the movie earlier!” Clare told us. “It also reflects a lot of confidence in the film on the part of the studio to move it to a Wednesday release date so I’m really excited about that, too.”
The fact that Sony Pictures moved the release date to a Wednesday, like Clare said, shows a lot of faith on the studio’s part. It will also help boost the opening weekend gross.
Note: This date is only confirmed for the U.S. as Sony Pictures is the distributor for the U.S. only. Sony does not control the release of the film internationally. Check with your country’s distributor to see if they plan on changing the date.
