Jamie Campbell Bower on ‘Mortal Instruments’: “Just give me a chance”

It’s no secret that the initial reaction by some fans to the announcement that Jamie Campbell Bower would be taking on the role of snarky Shadowhunter Jace Wayland was one filled with a lot of criticism and doubt.
But it’s safe to say that most of that animosity has since cooled off.
In an interview with Collider, during press for his new film Anonymous, Bower quickly touched on the topic of The Mortal Instruments (at the 4:00 mark).
“Just give me a chance,” Jamie chuckled.
So perhaps he has been made aware of the not-so-positive initial reaction by fans when he landed the role of Jace. But most fans are getting over that initial shock and have embraced the idea, especially after hearing how he brought Cassandra Clare to tears in his screen test with Lily Collins (Clary Fray) and the explosive chemistry between the two lead actors.
Marlene King is nearing completion of the City of Bones screenplay rewrite, which should be done by the end of October, and Bower said back in August that filming is expected to begin in January.
Hopefully the ball on the City of Bones movie will get rolling very soon.
