In 2007, Cassandra Clare’s first novel, City of Bones, was published and just as quickly readers found themselves enamored with the secret world of the Shadowhunters–a secretive race of humans born with angel blood that rid the mundane world of demons.

Originally meant to be a trilogy–with City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass–Clare continued the series with a second cycle of books with the same characters readers had grown to love, but with the emergence of a new enemy. The final installment–City of Heavenly Fire–is slated for a March 2014 release.

To date, Clare’s books have sold more than 24 million copies worldwide and have been translated into more than 35 different languages. It has been a #1 New York Times bestseller, as well as a bestseller on USA Today, Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly.

More recently, The Mortal Instruments has spent more than a year on the New York Times best sellers list, and with the movie adaptation of City of Bones on the way, it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
