Tune Tuesday: Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by Tyler Ward

Every Tuesday here at The Mortal Instruments Source is Tune Tuesday, where we share a song that relates to The Mortal Instruments or The Infernal Devices. This week’s song is “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by Tyler Ward. The song is originally by John Mayer. Ward's version of the song really gives the song some personality. I feel that this song expresses the fallout between Clary and Jace when they find out that they are (*at the time*) sister and brother. Some of these lyrics are dead on. For example, "Can't seem to hold you like I want to/So I can feel you in my arms," was exactly how Jace felt about wanting to hold Clary but knowing that they couldn't be with each other in that way after the stunning revelation at the end of "City of Bones." "You try to hate me just to hurt me/So you leave me feeling dirty/Because you can't understand," really describes how Jace treated Clary when she showed up in Idris in the beginning of "City of Glass" and how he was purposely trying to hurt her as if her hating him would make everything OK.
