Movie Monday: Could we see some familiar faces cast in the remaining roles?
Every Monday here at The Mortal Instruments Source is Movie Monday, where we talk about one of the many topics involving the movie adaptation of “City of Bones.”
Could Saundra Coller and Maxwell Reed land a role in the 'Mortal Instruments' film franchise?
Casting Clary Fray and Jace Wayland was only the beginning for The Mortal Instruments and its fans in the book to movie process.
Casting for the secondary characters is currently underway, with the role of Simon Lewis expected to be announced next.
In the meantime, fans contemplate possible actors who could fill those roles. But what if those actors already have experience in Cassandra Clare’s world?
When production on the City of Fallen Angels book trailer began in January 2011, fans were immediately drawn to the process and the actors that were cast as the familiar characters of Clare’s world.
Both Maxwell Reed, who played Simon, and Saundra Coller, who played Isabelle, have said that they have or will audition for their respected roles.
“If given the opportunity, I would love to,” Reed said in an interview with The Mortal Instruments Examiner about auditioning for the role of Simon in the movie
Coller has called upon her fans to help get the word out about her aspirations of landing the role.
“Auditions for Izzy have started,” Coller tweeted back on June 8. “I need all of you TMI fans to help me out if you’d like to see me in the running as Isabelle Lightwood.”
She has even promised to upload her audition piece once she gets a free moment.
“I have been so busy filming that I haven’t had time to upload my audition piece for you all to see,” she tweeted. “Don’t lose hope. It’s coming!”
Reed has had a bulk of fan support, as well, including a Twitter page @Max4Simon and this website.
Not only do these two actors have experience playing their respected roles, but they fit their characters’ physical descriptions, as well.
Reed and Coller–along with the rest of the cast of the City of Fallen Angels book trailer–were hand-picked by Vania of VLC Photo Productions and Clare herself. That’s a huge stamp of approval, if I do say so myself.
Would you guys like to see Max and Saundra–or any of the other cast from the City of Fallen Angels book trailer–in their respected role for the film adaptation?

I don’t know how much I like the guy that plays Simon in the trailer. He reminds me too much of Alec. Not that it’s a bad thing, he just doesnt make a good Simon, imo.
I think both of these actors would be great in the movie. I loved them in the trailers they were in and they both fit the character description in my opinion. (: Ah! I would just love to see them in the movie.
I loved Isabelle’s character in the books and I don’t want this actor to play the role of Isabelle in the movie, she just doesn’t fit in Isabelle’s role for me, I don’t know why, i guess i imagined her differently
she is a good actress though,i think she would play a better mia though
