Movie Monday: Lead actors already showing dedication to their roles and franchise

Every Monday here at The Mortal Instruments Source is Movie Monday, where we talk about one of the many topics involving the movie adaptation of “City of Bones.”

While we are still very early into the movie-making process in regards to The Mortal Instruments, that doesn’t mean that our lead actors aren’t already anxiously awaiting or preparing for their roles.

Ever since Lily Collins landed the role of Clary Fray, she has been very active in the process and very candid about her excitement for the project as she “is a fan” herself.

Collins has also been very open and interactive with fans with involving them in the process. She set up a Twitter account (@LilyAsClaryFray) as a way to communicate with fans and get their perspective and ideas.

“It’s kind of the first time that someone is tweeting as a character,” Collins told MTV last week, “giving inside information as to casting ideas or set pieces or costume design. It’s really to feel that everyone is as involved in the process as possible. The readers are a huge part of the story’s success so why not involve them in the movie process, as well?”

From the audition process, Jamie Campbell Bower has been insistent on getting all aspects of Jace Wayland laid down correctly.

He even wanted to know what Jace would wear to the audition.

“Another thing that impressed me about him was that he asked—I got a message relayed to me through the studio, wanting to know what Jace would wear,” Cassandra Clare told Hollywood Crush back in June. “He is the only actor who tested for this role who asked this.”

Bower is so dedicated to the role and to the franchise that he chose to get a Mortal Instruments tattoo, the details of which we aren’t quite aware of at this time.

“Getting a TMI tattoo next week. Now….. Go crazy. X,” he tweeted back in June.

Quite recently, Bower has been working out to bulk up a bit–just a bit, as we know Jace isn’t too bulky–and it’s starting to show in recent photos.

With so much more of the movie process set to unfold in the coming months, it is comforting that our leads are as excited about their portrayal of their roles as the fans are.
