Loved it!! Was so difficult to put down when it came time for lunch! I feel as if i my heart broke at least twice before I got to the end. I can’t wait to get into some fanart – but I think I’ll read it again to help settle my mind over everything that happened – sooooooooo goooood! TID are my favourites over TMI, and this one just shone brilliantly! Much ❤ to Cassie Clare & her amazingness in creating these characters that just inspire you to feel love and anger and heartbreak along with them!
I’m reading clockwork prince now I’m already on chapter 5 the book is amazing so far I’m trying 2 read as slow as I can because the book is so interesting I CAN’T!!! Put it down

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare
Nov 04, 11 5 of 5 stars
Read from November 03 to 04, 2011
Thank you to Goodreads First Reads for being one of the few to selected to receive this ARC in one of their drawings.
Clockwork Prince, (Book 2 in The Infernal Devices series,) Ms. Clare does not disappoint. As prequels to her wonderfully successful series, The Mortal Instruments, and through her careful crafting of this series, you are taken on a journey wrought with romance, friendship, mystery, indecision, treachery, action, love, hate, devotion, and self-discovery all enmeshed in this beautiful story. “Clockwork Prince” picks up where Clockwork Angel left off, and continues to usher you on a course of discovery towards not only the further adventures of Miss Tessa Gray and the London Institute’s Band of Shadowhunters, but also, their quest in defeating the Magister, Axel Mortmain and his Clockwork Army. We welcome back Tessa Gray, Will Herondale, and Jem Carstairs, as well as Charlotte, Henry, Jessie, and Sophie from the London Institute, and of course everyone’s favorite warlock, Magnus Bane. Secrets are revealed as well as a possible parentage of Tessa Gray. We learn more of the Lightwood brothers and Ragnor Fell, and are introduced to new characters that play a pivotal role in the story. It reveals to us more of the family history of the beloved characters of her first series, (TMI); family secrets are divulged and motives are called into question.
As one can only do in multiple volumes, her characters come to life from the pages of her books, capture your heart, and become like family. For the hopeless romantic in my soul, there were both breath-taking and heart-breaking moments, my heart twisting and turning as I embarked on an emotional roller coaster ride with Tessa, Will, and Jem in this installment. My only disappointment was that the book ended too soon. In her true style, she has left us wanting more with an incredible last few lines.
Ms. Clare delivers a story that is ultimately mesmerizing.
The series is to conclude with the next installment, Clockwork Princess.
OMFG!!!! I just finished reading it. I was sobbing most of the time, and my sister kept asking me “What wrong? Why are you crying?” . I tried to explain, but in the end all I could say was “Read it, then you’ll understand”
If I didn’t love my awesome kindle, I would have chucked it across the room at the end!!!.
– SPOILERS AHEAD –
Out of all the hoping that it was Will on DSBS, and that hope was fufilled!! This book absolutely made me adore William Herondale even more! However, the ending. . .kindles got chucked everywhere. I mean wooooooooowwwwww. Will FINALLY was able to say he loced her but OOPS Jem beat him to it with a ( SPOILER) proposal!!! Why? WHY?!?!??! HES KNOWN HER FOR LESS THAN A YEAR!!!! just chucked my kindle. And then Will is a martyr again and gives Jem his blessing? JEM YOU IDIOT HE DIDNT SAVE HER FOR YOU!!!! Then with Cecily – really glad she turned out to be his sister- Ohh I’m going to pass out.
I CANNOT PHYSICALLY WAIT for the next book. It’s impossible D:<
My heart has literally (not literally) been ripped out of my chest and gnawed on. I just cried for the last half hour, and I rarely cry about books, let alone for a half hour! I was slamming my fist down so hard by the end that I may have injured myself.
SPOILER: What? On? Earth? I can NOT believe Jem proposed. I just had to sit there for a minute and take it in. I was Team Will 100% in the first book. Now I am 1,000% Team Will. We finally figure out what the crap is wrong with him! And then that it was all for nothing! Gahhh! And Cassie Clare HAD to time everything perfectly as to break all possibilities of a happy ending for ANYONE but Jem. I feel sick. Way too attatched to Will and Tessa. It’s not healthy.
I totally agree!!! I live Jem but it seems like poor Will cant have a happy ending of his own! And how could Jem seem to be so blind towards Will’s feelings for Tessa?! I had convinced myself that Will would hang in there and that he and Tessa would live happily ever after and somehow she would find out she can have children and then they would continue the Herondale line but after reading that I’m not so sure now :/!!!
LOL…you guys crack me up. I love this book, too…however, I really like Jem. I love his character! I think Tessa gravitated to Jem because Will was so cruel to her, repeatedly. Yes, she and Will have a ton of chemistry, but he hurt her….badly. And so she went elsewhere for friendship, which as we all know, lead to a lot more. I saw this coming in the first book, so I am not surprised by the outcome. However, I don’t feel that Jem will truly get his “happily ever after” like everyone thinks. Ms. Clare really has us all guessing. Personally, I am curious because in TMI there are Herondale’s, but if Tessa is a warlock and is sterile, how is that possible, unless Will loves and marries someone else. Hmmmm….
you did read that last page right? (SPOILER) his sister? she could get preggo and keep the family name going… and thank God one of them has kids because they didnt there would be no jace<3
Omigod I completely agreed with everything you said!! I seriously cried at the end of the book, and certainly not for Jem!! I used to love him but now he’s ruined everything!!!!! We finally find out that Will is the perfect guy after all (though I’ve been Team Will from the start) and Tessa doesn’t even have the decency to admit that she loves him!! And it’s all because of Jem and his illness!! I’m impressed with the deep plotline and love triangle, but my heart is broken for the Will/Tessa romance that can never be how we all want it to be:( I’m gonna be depressed for a full year until Clockwork Princess comes, and I’m praying that Cassandra Clare will have the heart to make things right for everyone who feels the same way I do.
Aw I absolutely loved it!!! Read the whole thing yesterday, just could not put it down! I don’t think I can cope with another whole yer before the next book!!!
It did however break my heart! Poor Will 😦 I couldn’t believe what was happening as I read the chapters at the end of the book! Surely that can’t be it!!!!!! 😦 *sigh* guess I’ve got to cling on to fanfiction until next December!
Clare’s best book by far. Emotionally invested in all the characters and for the first time i dont dislike anyone in the love triangle….though im a will/tess shipper i love the direction that CP took, and wooow Jem was really surprising…..pleasantly so. I still feel for Jem…feel bad for him but the added forbidden-ness of tess/will I love…..aaah it made me laugh….(esp when my name sake wrote tatiana herondale on her diary) :DD
I could quite literally grovel all day…and I’m not one of those people who grovel at every single book Clare writes….CofA remains my biggest disappointment up to date…..the TMI trilogy-I love but Infernal Devices surpasses it. Already in the process of re-reading *those* scenes ….you know which 😉
After I read clockwork angel, I was like
I think I might like TID more than the TMI, after reading clockwork prince, I now officially love TMI so much more! I feel like we didn’t find out enough about mortmain and it focused to much on the relationships and I cried for the whole night after finishing it, my heart was ripped out of my chest!
I absolutely adored CP and had no problem with any part of it – SPOILER – not even with the Jem/Tessa outcome even though my heart aches for poor, tortured Will and what happened to him) and I loved the Jessamine story arc (that girl was really impossible to like, lol) even more so because I’d all along suspected that she was behind the ‘JG’ initials hence her admiration for Nate from the get-go! However, ID hasn’t moved me as much as TMI, and so I keep on loving TMI much, much more – every book in this series has managed to crush me and I’d find myself soul-sick for a long time after I finished reading it.
I’ve read Clockwork Prince a day ago, but it’ll take me a few more days and perhaps a re-read to put myself back together! I’m still reeling from the emotional impact it had on me and all I can say is that I’ve never enjoyed pain and heartbreak to this degree before in my whole life! This book is just so absolutely beautiful, heart-wrenching, action-packed, intriguing, passionate and soul-consuming – it’s everything I’d hoped it would be and of course, it left me desperate for more! Never have I been so completely torn between two (fictional) guys – if I was Tessa I’d be forced to either join a convent or simply insist on a three-way-relationship for good! This book is a literary masterpiece! Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
An absolutely wonderful book! I liked it a lot and i loved seeing how the characters developed in this awesome story! I was hooked the whole time and I couldnt even put the book down! But I was extrememley dissapointed at the end D: i was getting ready to hurl the book across my room in anger until i remembered how great it was before! The ending didnt ruin the book though, it was just dissapointing in my opinion, so people who have not read this book yet, READ IT! Its a very good book! I give it five stars not counting the last few chapters…
– *TEAM WILL*
It took me 2 days to read the book, and that is a feat with 2 young children! But I couldn’t put this book down, whenever I did I just wanted to get done what I needed to do to get it back into my hands! This book is so good, I loved “Clockwork Angel” but this book is such an awesome sequel to that book. I have always been a HUGE fan of Jem, and this book DID NOT disappoint! My heart breaks for Tessa and Will and I so anxious for the third book to see what happens next! I can’t wait!!!
And I just have to add one more important thing – the make-out scene between Tessa and Jem was HOTTER THAN HOT!!! I know that Cassie is an expert with her vivid descriptions, but that scene got me especially “hot and bothered”, lol!
Oh my freaking gosh. So i just got done with the book 20 minutes ago and I am so mad right now. As soon as the book was over i wanted tO throw it across the room!!!! It was a very good book -dont get me wrong- until the last couple chapters!!!!! OMG i wont be able to gEt over this for a while!!!! She needs to be with Will!!! My fave part of the whole book was the masquerade ball!!….. Ok really the end of that part…. ;). But still, she should not be with jem!! Tessa and Will belong together!!!! 🙂
Loved it!! Was so difficult to put down when it came time for lunch! I feel as if i my heart broke at least twice before I got to the end. Just curious but are you by any chance Canadian or British?
I’m reading clockwork prince now I’m already on chapter 5 the book is amazing so far I’m trying 2 read as slow as I can because the book is so interesting I CAN’T!!! Put it down

Omg. WILL! I am so heartbroken! How could Tessa do that! I am seriously so annoyed right now !

I agree with every single thing that you said!! Jem is such a cockblocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
