Fans react to the ‘City of Lost Souls’ cover
Coming May 8, 2012
The cover reveal for City of Lost Souls, the fifth installment of the best-selling The Mortal Instruments, on Wednesday just made the wait for May 8, a whole lot longer.
Cassandra Clare’s fandom is no doubt a powerful one, as evidenced by City of Lost Souls momentary trending on Twitter shortly after the cover’s release.

Mina Blak: This is by far my favourite cover of the series – PERFECTION! The models look exactly how I picture Jace and Clary in my mind’s eye and the way they hold each other is so hot! Thank you to whoever decided to put J&C on the cover together – like I said, perfection!!!
TeamEdwardJace: love the cover( they are so great together and the drawings or the models are goroeus and i love how jace is holding clary) and the prolouge and ooo where did jace and sebastian go, of course we’ll all know they’ll turn up as the teasers have revealed! it would have been coool to see sebastian may next to jace whatever and mangus or alec and izzy too but yeah awesome cover and i’m so excited! omg seriosuly but yeah the cover shows how even though jace is still kind being controlled that his feelings for clary haven’t been obscured. he is still in love with her and wants and desires her(which his desire his part of his love for her)
sugabuga21: I think it would have been cool if they would have used alec and magnus, or isabelle and sebastian/jonothan. But its whatever, the only thing that really matters is whole story inside the cover.
Gabrielle: I kinda wanted to see magnus cause of his rainbow, but jace and clary is good too im satisfied but it doesn’t matter wat the cover just that the pages inside r good.(which im sure they will be of course) i hope they talk about simon and izzy and magnus and alec(:

Blubb: Why always Jace and Clary? Sebastian and Simon have already been on the cover. Why not Alec or Izzy or Magnus? In my opinion they have the right to be on the cover NOW!
Aundrea D. Smith: From the sounds of the story line it should have been Jace with Sebastian/Jonathan…it seems to be their bond that is the basis of the story and that is what they reflect in the covers. However, I agree that a Magnus and Alec cover would be AWESOME!

I think they should have animated it a bit more too but oh well. I just need to read that book. : D

I agree with nyah in that Clary looks kinda old, and I don’t like this babyfaced Jace at all. I wish they would have used the same Jace as on the City of Lost Bones (first book) cover model guy. He looks more scarred and more tough and more like a lion, like the way I imagine Jace as looking.
