Lily Collins in Talks to Star as Juliet in ‘Rosaline’
Variety is reporting that Lily Collins (Clary) is set to star as Juliet–one half of the famous star-crossed duo–in the film Rosaline.
Collins was in talks last summer to play the title character of Rosaline, along with Keira Knightly, but both dropped out that made way for Deborah Ann Woll. But Collins wants to get back into the project.
Here are the details from Cinema Blend:
The latest casting news on Fox 2000’s rom-com Rosaline is that Lily Collins is in talks to star…again. Based on of Rebecca Serle’s yet-to-be-published novel,When You Were Mine, the movie will take a less traditional look at William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet by focusing on what happened to the girl Romeo declared he loved so intensely, then abruptly abandoned: Rosaline. Back in August Collins and Keira Knightley were being considered for the title role, however, when a casting update came two months later, both were out and True Blood‘s Deborah Ann Woll was in – well, in talks anyway. At the time Dave Franco (Fright Night) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) were entering negotiations to play the legendary star-crossed lovers, but now Variety has announced that Steinfeld has walked away from the project and Collins has returned to the table for “early talks.”
Notably, this time around she’s not up for the role of Rosaline, as both Woll and Franco are still in talks. So, should she sign on, Collins would be playing Juliet. Though she’s not as renowned as 15-year-old Oscar nominee Steinfeld, at 22, Collins would certainly be a more age-appropriate choice to play opposite 26-year-old Franco. Moreover, Collins, with her glamorous looks and seemingly effortless grace, could be a nice foil to Woll, who has established a keen ability for playing gorgeous yet gawky and loveable underdogs. Additionally, this could be a good opportunity for the Abduction star to explore her comedic talents, rather than taking on another dramatic role.
Would you be interested in seeing Rosaline?

I wouldn’t. I am not a big fan of Lily’s outside of TMI movies anyway. My perfect Clary was always Emma Stone and I only accepted Lily because Screen Gems “forced-fed” her to us as their “new rising star” and now that they dropped out of CoB we’re stuck with *their* choice of Clary. To be honest, while I think she’a a beautiful girl, she never fitted my idea of Clary. I am sick of hearing about Lily starring in this and that while CoB movie appears not to be moving from point A to B.
Sorry if this sounded harsh – I just believe that honesty is the best policy.
Does not bode well does it Mina.? If Lily is tied up with other parts she’s not free for CoB. We need point B asap.
You know me well, girlfriend! 🙂
I have been one of the biggest supporters of Lily’s since she was announced to play our beloved Clary and have defended her in front of anyone and everyone who wasn’t, shall we say, thrilled with her choice for Clary….but now, seeing as she’s taking on project after project while not even mentioning one word about TMI in any of her recent interviews, my patience is starting to wear thin.
Like you said Sharon, we – the loyal TMI Fandom need that point B asap!
