David Garrett, co-founder of Summit Entertainment, has joined forces with Constantin Film to “launch sales and financing entity Mister Smith Entertainment,” according to Variety.

How does this concern the film adaptation of ‘The Mortal Instruments?’

Mister Smith Entertainment will be in charge of the financing for ‘City of Bones.’

Here are the details from Variety:

The joint venture will be involved in financing, co-financing and licensing high-quality mainstream features.

Mister Smith will launch sales on two major Constantin productions at Cannes this month: “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” based on Cassandra Clare’s bestseller, and “3,096 Days,” based on the autobiography of Natascha Kampusch, who was held captive for more than eight years.

‘City of Bones’ stars Lily Collins (Clary) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace) and will be directed by Harald Zwart.

Production will begin on August 15 in Toronto and New York and is scheduled for an August 23, 2013, theatrical release.
