Hypable says ‘Mortal Instruments’ has potential to be next ‘mega hit’

After The Wrap posted an article earlier this week naming six books they think will be the next mega franchise, Hypable responded with an article of their own.

They stated two series and one stand-alone book (that didn’t make The Wrap’s list) that they believe have the potential to be the next “mega hit.”

And you guessed it, The Mortal Instruments made the list:

THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES BY CASSIE CLARE

Cassie Clare was recently named the “New Queen of Fantasy.”  She has earned the title by working hard at her craft and creating a strong series of books in the shadow hunting world.  She not only has the Mortal instrument series but a prequel, The Infernal Devices, as well as a planned companion series in The Dark Artifices.  Cassie seems to have no interest in slowing down, which keeps her books on the bestselling lists and her fans constantly begging for more.  Cassie Clare has built a fan base for years and is active on twitter, tumblr, and her website. She fuels the fires of fandom in a way that keeps people talking about her books even if one is’t expected for another 8 months.

Also making the list were Divergent by Veronica Roth and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

All three that made the list have all been optioned by film studios and moving forward at various stages. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones begins filming in mid-August and is scheduled for an August 23, 2013 theatrical release.

    awesome!

  2. I love the Mortal Instruments! I know I’ll be watching the movie when it comes out, so I hope that it becomes a great hit and the rest of the movies are made.

  3. That’s nice to read but the Hypable article doesn’t seem very credible when the writer doesn’t seem to understand what a franchise is. She lists The Fault in our Stars as the next potential mega franchise when it is a stand alone book and not part of a series..

From the Hypable article they mentioned the importance of sales. Does anyone kno if TMI sells well on the NY TImes and USAToday lists? Is the series popular in other countries? I am in Europe and I don’t think Casasandra Clare’s books are that popular where I live :0(

    • Both TMI and TID sell quite well on NY Times, USA Today and Publisher’s Weekly. In fact, TMI has been on the NY Times bestsellers list for more than a year now. And the books have been translated into more than 20 languages. They’re quite popular internationally.

  4. Feel like a proud mum. :’)
