There’s a giddy excitement that thousands of fans of Cassandra Clare’s THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS are waking up with as principal photography on THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES gets underway this morning in Toronto.

It’s a day that’s been nearly three years in the making.

THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS was first optioned by Constantin Film and Unique Features back in August 2009 and while the process has been a long and at times grueling one that has tested the patience of the fandom, fans are now seeing the wait pay off.

Just like authors, like our beloved Cassie, never dream their books will be adapted into a live-action film, fans never truly believe it until they see it. It’s so surreal to think that such an amazing cast of talented and gorgeous actors will be bringing Cassie’s characters to life.

At times it was difficult, dealing with backlash about casting and from critics, but the fandom has stood strong together and now we come together to celebrate the Shadowhunters’ transition into the mundane world we call Hollywood.

Just remember, as you’re celebrating an important and thrilling chapter in our fandom, know that there is so much more excitement yet to come.

This is just the beginning.
