I hope you are reading this and I just want to highlight some points that would have upset the fans. The upset fans resulted in the movie only getting fourteen million dollars. I, myself, am a very disappointed fan.
The biggest issue was of Jace Wayland. How could you take Jamie Campbell Bower to play Jace? I am not saying that he isn’t good looking but, Jamie lacks the Jace factor. He is not handsome or good looking enough to Jace. Jace did not have an American accent while the accent that has been given to Jace in the movie is no way near what the fans were hoping for. The fan compromised and didn’t say much about this but the fact when we realized that Jace did not have golden eyes was the breaking point. His golden eyes were one of the features we were dying to see. His eyes were mentioned again and again in the book and in the movie there was no sign of them. Also throughout the movie Jace almost remains emotionless.
Other issues that contributed were that Alec was seventeen years old. How in the world did you even think of giving a twenty nine year old the role of Alec? A person who was twenty years old would have worked. Clary was supposed to have green eyes, another feature that was excluded, and she was supposed have red hair, not auburn. Isabelle had to be taller than Alec; she was the shortest one in the movie. You took Raphael out of the movie. I have no idea why did you even come up with taking Raphael out and putting a new vampire and why in the world did Cassandra Clare agree upon it. Another factor the add fuel to the fire was the fact that you had completely ruined the greenhouse scene. It was the most awaited scene of the movie. Jace surprising was wearing a shirt which seemed to be of someone who was three time as Jace.
I hope you looked upon these matters. I have more reasons I can go on with but I will leave it here. I have big hope for City of Ashes and I don’t want to be disappointed again. Never underestimate the power of the upset fans. We have already been really hurt and sadden by the movie now don’t let the next movie get on our nerves. The consequences would be fatal. I hope you take this into consideration.
    Sincerely
    An extremely pissed off fan.

  5. I would like to emphasize that I would love to see CoA made soon! I loved the first movie even though there were some scenes I did not like being switched from the book. Yet, I do understand that if the scenes were made like the book the movie would have been longer or budget would be even higher. Either way, I want to see CoA and I hope this happens very soon!

  6. I have been a big fan of the fist book and film. I think the film is very good and I like the actors. I really hope that you will make the movie “the city of ashes”. I do not understand why the movie is not more known, because it is a great movie, and many people like it. The one thing I do not get is why the viewer should know that Jace and Clary are not siblings “If you lie and tell them…..”. I think it takes some of the excitement away. Regards a fan
