WonderCon: Jamie Campbell Bower talks Jace, favorite weapons with Page to Premiere

Our friends at Page to Premiere attended WonderCon last Saturday where they got to talk to some of the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones cast, including Jace Wayland himself, Jamie Campbell Bower.

Yesterday at Wondercon in Anaheim, we had the chance to chat with some of the members of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones cast! First, in the press room, we got to chat with Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the leading role of Jace Wayland. We talked about a lot of different things, but among them were favorite weapons, Kevin Zegers’ British accent, online insanity, favorite thing he learned to do from stunt training, and whether he thinks Edward Cullen, Jace, or Harry Potter would survive the zombie apocalypse!

  1. WOW!!!! Just love Jamie’s voice and accent. I could listen to him talk for hours and hours 🙂 Can’t wait to see Jace on the big screen and hopefully later today in the trailer!!!! Love you Jamie!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

  2. Am I the only one who found this interview a little awkward?

    • He’s probably feeling awkwad because he thinks everyone hates him.
Its not easy to do interviews talking about a role you got lynched for accepting.

If i was him i personally wouldnt bother showing up or doing any promotion for the film, you could see when they asked that question about googling himself that it upset him. Why should he waste his time doing all this for fans (some, not all) who dont even appreciate him or treat him with any respect at all, hes already been paid he doesnt need to be there.

      • He is also paid to show up at these gigs. Everyone wants to see him. He does have agents and publicists who tell him what’s happening even if he doesn’t read it on-line. Really great actors, however, are usually insular. Those who start believing their own publicity become self-parodies. I think that Jamie shows intelligence and introspection in his responses to some of her stupid questions. She was obviously an immature and inexperienced interviewer who probably begged for this opportunity to interview him.

Actually, I wasn’t referring to Jaime, I was referring to the interviewer. I thought that it was her role, as the interviewer, to make the interviewee feel comfortable and lighten up the situation. Unfortunately, I don’t think she did a very good job, and as a result, the interview was awkward.

  3. The interviewer has the personality of cardboard. The interview is awkward because of her very scripted questions and inability to respond to Jamie’s answers.

    • I concur with Cigana. The awkward pauses were coming from the interviewer (who seemed listening to questions being fed to her from someone else.) He was charming and genuine.

      • I also agree. Ask anyone those kind of questions and we would all have a hard time to answer – especially on the spot with a camera filming your every word. She asked really dumb questions like who would win the zombie apocalypse HP or EC or JW – I mean where did that even come from – what the hell is she talking about???? How is Jamie supposed to respond to that? And why ask something so stupid when she could have asked way more important COB movie related questions??? How did she get to be a reporter anyway, she sucks at it. Atone point she started to ask something and changed mid-sentence, then at one point Jamie answered and there is a pause because she didn’t know what to say after. It’s the reporter who is awkward, not Jamie.

    • I’m going to say this again, but I was also referring to the interviewer when I said the interview was awkward, I never meant that Jaime was awkward, he tried to make a few jokes and she never seemed to respond or take anything further.

Holy crap, You know what I’ll be the first to admit that when I first heard he was going to be Jace I was super P.O.’d and didn’t think he was a good choice at all. But after watching different interviews with him like WonderCon. I must say that I was wayy to quick to judge him. He seems funny and pretty nice, and he respects the books. So I think that he will do well playing Jace! And I’m sorry that I was so harsh :/ So GO JAMIE! Make us Jace lovers proud!!

  5. it was a bit awkward but i think he’s a okay person

i love you jamie! you make a great jace and there’s so many awesome things about you! and i’m glad you love this project and the fans. there have been postive freakouts and the negative freak outs.. i love your humor.

  7. i absolutely love him. i cant think of a better person for jace he really does seem genuine to the character. lets pray the movie does good so that there can be sequels!

  8. and yeah the way the reporter held the microphone to him even when he was done talking.. she seemed inexperienced and awkward.

  9. oh poor Jamie, he is such a funny and lovely guy. He doesn`t deserve all the crap that was unleashed on him. Also he looks so skinny it really bothers me.
