LISTEN: INFERNAL DEVICES-inspired song, ‘Skin and Bones’ by Beth Crowley
Beth Crowley wowed the Shadowhunter fandom with her Mortal Instruments-inspired song “Warrior,” which is now in the hands of those in charge of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack (no word yet if they’re considering it for the soundtrack). And now she’s done it again with an Infernal Devices-inspired song called “Skin and Bones.”
“I really wanted to do something that blurred the lines between Will, Tessa, and Jem, where you don’t always know whose perspective it’s from,” Beth told us. “They are so connected that I couldn’t do something that wasn’t about the three of them.”
Take a listen:
Lyrics:
i used to dream about the heroes of stories
as life became an endless night
when hope was gone you resurrected my spirit
brought me from darkness into lighti can sense a storm is coming, anchoring you to me
far beneath my skin and bones
i harbor my divided soul
my greatest source of strength might be my downfall
but love was not a choice to me
i held my breath and took a leap
and when i lose myself you help me stand so talli listen closely and hear sweet strains of music
i’m captured in a reverie
through all these years you’ve been my quiet salvation
reflecting who I want to beplease for my sake no more talk of blessings and curses tonight
far beneath my skin and bones
i harbor my divided soul
my greatest source of strength might be my downfall
but love was not a choice for me
i held my breath and took a leap
when i lose myself you help me stand so tallstanding in silence we look out at the water
amazed how much the world has changed
i see behind your eyes such wisdom and sorrow
you’re wondering if we’re still the samei felt more love than i could give in just one lifetime
far beneath my skin and bones
i safekeep our united souls
my greatest source of strength is not my downfall
because love was not a choice for me
i held your hand and took a leap
i’ll never lose myself you help me stand so tall
Beth said that if the song gets a good response she will put the song up on iTunes, like she did with “Warrior.”

One word…Beautiful!
Wow…Warrior was awesome and made u feel like Clary…This…THIS…was just so sad and heartbreaking like the books…Will, Tessa, Jem….the united souls…such a beautiful song 🙂
It’s… perfect. There is no other word. This song revived me the whole series and the feelings of Tessa for her soulmates. I can’t hold the tears after listening to it, and be amazed by the talent Beth has to write and compose, she is awesome! wish we can have more from the next books and series, and other couples, don’t you think?
its perfect !!!
What a beautiful song!! I absolutely loved “Warrior” and really hope this one goes up on iTunes as well. It really relates to the books, and I love that I get the same feeling from listening to this song, as I get whilst reading the books!
It is just as good as Warrior and sometimes I would catch myself flashing back to things in Clockwork Princess that went hand and hand with the song. Amazing!
Agreed. This song is really well written. I bought warrior on iTunes, and I hope this one goes up there too. I love how, as someone said, Warrior made you feel like Clary, but then this song made me feel like Jem, Will, and Tessa, and sometimes I felt like two at the same time, because theirs souls are really united. I thought that was cool 😛 Beautiful ! Keep on writing Beth !
By the angel this is just stunning, beautiful, heartfelt and truly wonderful! I want to buy now! Please put it on Itunes!
wow, wow, wow! I hope she does put this song on itunes, this is amazing!! I have to go and listen to warrior now!

I don’t have words to express how I felt when she was singing. In my mind I saw Will, Tessa and Jem during the books. Now, I won’t be able to stop listening this song. Amazing job Beth.
