TF1 acquires rights for ‘THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF ASHES’
TF1 has acquired rights to distribute The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, the sequel to the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, in France and Belgium.
From Variety:
Lastly, TF1, which is headed by Daniel Preljocaj, acquired Harald Zwart’s “Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes” from Mister Smith…
The distributor, which covers France and Belgium, also owns the rights for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which hits theaters in France and Belgium on Oct. 16.
Executive producer Martin Moszkowicz recently revealed that distributors for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones were all interested in The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes. So all, most or many distributors for City of Bones may have also acquired the rights for City of Ashes at Cannes this year. It sounds like The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes sold out at Cannes, but the only one distributor that has been announced so far is TF1 for Gaul (France/Belgium). Distributors for other countries should be announced in the coming months.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, which begins production in the fall, is slated for worldwide release in 2014.
