From concept art to practical make-up in ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’
Make-up Artist Magazine shared a feature focused on the creation of the prosthetic demons in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. From original concept art to the final product.
“You won’t watch this movie and say, ‘Oh wow, look at all the make-up effects!’” he agrees, “But if you watch it a second time, you’ll say, ‘That was make-up, but you don’t really see it!’ The Silent Brothers are like Darth Maul: They’re in your face, full-frame, cool-looking prosthetic make-ups, but the other make-ups are a lot more subtle. The audience is seeing into this world, but it’s like a peripheral world, out of the corner of your eye, so this is not the Cantina in Star Wars. You haven’t got aliens walking in front of the camera; this is just a nightclub full of odd things that you won’t see unless they are pointed out to you. I probably did a portfolio full of make-ups that are all in this movie, but they’re all in the background, all in the corner of your eye!”
Take a look at the photos provided to the magazine by Paul Jones and Martin Mercer:
Awesome
I know this sounds kind of odd but doesn’t the make up art remind you of pans labyrinth

Amazing makeup. i find it cool that they use makeup and not cgi.
