Cassandra Clare shares information about ‘The Last King of Faerie’ special editions
Hello again, I hope you are ready for more The Last King of Faerie news!
Just as promised, here is a rundown of the special editions the first The Wicked Powers book is going to have.
Cassandra Clare shared a newsletter that featured the standard US edition, but then also talked about three more editions that we can look forward to!
About the cover:
It features Dru Blackthorn (and yes, future covers will feature Kit, Ty, and Ash, in some combination!) as she is the one spending the majority of the book “in Faerie”! I am so happy to be working with Cliff Nielson, who has designed all the Shadowhunter covers since City of Bones, to make Wicked Powers both stand out as its own vibe and also fit with the rest of the Shadowhunter books. It’s so weird to think of counting down to the last one!
Here we see Dru with a faerie sword, wearing a dress that is described in the book — she still has a bit of her own edge with her blue-streaked hair, and I love the jeweled dragonflies. The plus size model chosen for Dru is just gorgeous, and I love how much the illustration looks like a piece of Mucha art.
Above is the regular edition – also called trade edition by Cassie – and that one is going to have sprayed edges, stunning endpapers and gold foil on the naked cover. It is going to be available everywhere.

I love seeing Kit and Ty together! ♥
Other US editions will be from Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart.
1) Barnes & Noble aka “Blue Topaz” edition
““The Barnes & Noble Exclusive Edition features unique printed art on the edges, a unique blue topaz case with a silver foil design of swords and swans, and exclusive full-color endpaper art of Dru and Ash.” Endpapers also by Frostbite! So pretty and I love Dru’s dress.”

2) Target aka “Amethyst” edition
This edition has “sprayed butterfly art on the edges, a unique amethyst case with a silver foil design, and exclusive full-color endpaper art of Livvy by Adelle Kincel.”

3) Walmart aka “Garnet” edition
“This edition features unique printed art of on the edges, a unique garnet case with a gold foil design, and exclusive full-color endpaper art of the Seelie Queen by Adelle Kincel.”

According to Cassie, the “main UK edition will follow the design of the US trade edition” and we can also look forward to other special editions from Waterstones and book boxes!
I will of course keep everyone updated; I am particularly excited to see the Waterstones edition.
Which edition do you like the most and which one will you be buying?
Sound off in the comments!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! ♥
