Casting Talk: David Sakurai auditions for Magnus
Cassandra Clare said that over 100 actors had auditioned for the role of Magnus Bane in the upcoming film adaptation of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.’
And that was as of May 8th.
Flash toward two weeks and we have learned about half a dozen more or so that have auditioned, including Shannon Kook, Simon Raymond, Ross Butler, Ben Cho, Osric Chau and Austin Ku.
The latest actor to add to the Magnus list is David Sakurai, 31.
According to Denmark studio Ud Af Mørket, the Japanese-Danish actor recently auditioned for the role of the High Warlock and they said that they are “excited” about it.

I really like him… The other actors are really great, very handsome! BUT, they look too young for me… in my mind, Magnus is young but not thaaat young!

Uuuuh wow wow, he is danish ? So am i ! thats pretty cool !! But, i dont know… i know they say Magnus is older than the age of 19, but i have never seen him this old ! hmmm… well, i think i have actually seen this film or something from it, im not sure, and he was pretty cool, and also in this one, but – no ! I like everybody else, expect another guy who was also around 30, in my opinion they should just choose someone around 25
Oh, I like this guy. Perfect in being half Asian, half Danish. Magnus is over 300 years old, so needs a weathered look, even though he’s 19. The other men are too baby faced.

OMG, he’s freaking hot, and he definitely looks like Magnus, there’s something there that reminds me of Mangnus(not because he is Asian). I really hope he gets the part, and concerning the age he can definitely pass for a 19 year old.
I hope casting for Magnus stays true to the book – tall, lanky, almost skinny build and of Asian decent. Google Image Takeshi Kaneshiro and you can find a perfect model to follow when casting the physical appearance of Magnus. If he was younger he could play Magnus himself.

maybe, but it depends on how old he is. i’m not being agesit, but mangus is supposed to be 19 looking(so someone who’s 18,19, 20 or in their early and possibly mid 20s could play him)
Nobody is going to be 19 in the movie so just deal with it people. As for this guy, David Sakurai, he is AMAZING!
If he is okay with being gay that I would gladly have him in the movie. Awesome!
I also want to add that he is perfect for Magnus. I would love to see him to magic. 😀
