A Very TMI Thank You!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones title treatment

With TMI Source headed to the set of THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES, it gives us a great opportunity to bring a piece of the fandom with us to the set. Although we would love for our entire fandom to meet up in person, we know that it is impossible. But TMI Source has thought of the next best thing.

We are bringing the fandom to the set via video! We have posted a video on YouTube that we would like everyone to upload a video response HERE or email your video/video link to mortalinstrumentssource@gmail.com.

All you have to do is leave a video response and we will edit as many of the submissions as we can together. The main theme of this video will be “A Very TMI Thank You!” This is your opportunity to tell Cassie thank you for her books, a chance for you to tell Lily what you love about her personality, a chance to tell “Sideburns” Jeff that he is being stalked, but most of all it’s a way to say thank you to Cassie and the filmmakers!

Here are the only rules:

  • Respond to Our Main Video HERE or email your video/video link to mortalinstrumentssource@gmail.com.
  • Make sure you say “Thank You” Or some version of that phrase in your video. (This will allow us to HOPEFULLY include everyone in the video)
  • Do not make your video response any longer than 2 minutes (there will be a lot of submissions and that is a lot of videos for someone to watch!)
  • SUBMISSIONS MUST BE IN NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 16TH!!!

Because what kind of fun would visiting the set be if we couldn’t share our love with the ones that are making it happen?

  1. LOL! Sorry but I think this is a terrible idea. These kind of videos are always so awkward and embarassing. Just cringeworthy. The cast and crew are probably way to busy to care about something like this anyway. Anyhow it’s up to you.

However I do want to say can people stop with this “Sideburns Jeff” thing? It is getting old and it’s disrespectful to him. He’s just a man trying to do his job (albeit with very interesting facial hair) and people who have seen him on set have said that he is NOT amused by this nonsense. Just leave him alone to get on with his work.

    • The crew specifically asked for videos that we’ll show the cast so I figured it’d be a great idea to compile a lot into one. Kudos to Megan! I don’t think it’ll be cringe-worthy. It’s a great way to bring fans to the set that won’t be there. It’s sweet and I think the cast and crew will really appreciate it 🙂

      • @Alyssa Barbieri: These videos are ALWAYS cringeworthy without exception. Did they specifically ask for a Thank You video? I know I sound negative but a video of people just gushing over the cast, author and books for a film that hasn’t even been made yet just sounds weird to me and the cast all strike me as modest people so they’ll probably just feel embarassed. I could understand something like a fan question video like I’ve seen for “The Hunger Games” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” cast which is fun, more interactive and tends to be less embarassing.

Also if you were told to make some for the cast then why are you asking for messages for Cassandra when she isn’t involved with the film production (she’s not producing, writing, casting)? Messages for Jessica Postigo or Marlene King who wrote the screenplay would make more sense.
Oh well. Whatever. It’s not like I’m participating anyway.

Between working 16 hour days, training, rehearsing, trying to get some rest, live their lives, other work I doubt they have much time to watch it but I suppose it’s all part of the PR strategy and a way to pander to the fanbase as much as possible.

      • Everyone likes to hear that their work is appreciated and in something like this with such a passionate fandom I think it’s great for the actors to hear all the good things the fans have to say. They did ask for inspirational comments and from the fans. I suspect we’re doing a bit of a meet-and-greet type set-up after filming so we can do interviews and share fan videos and artwork. I respect that you don’t want to do it, but I think the cast and crew will really appreciate something like this 🙂

    • well, Cassandra Clare did write the books so.. City of Bones movie won’t even exist without her the City of Bones book right? She deserved to be thanked. And also, it’s to show support to the cast, especially to Jamie Campbell Bower, with all that shit that people are saying about him getting the role of Jace. So this is a great idea. I hope they’d be able to watch it though. 🙂

  2. I agree with ‘Real’ this is a bad idea, they’re very busy to see a video 😦

  3. Fair enough. I’m not the fangirling type so whenever I see these things it’s just so bizarre. Must be my English reserve 😀 It is part of the publicity strategy of all these YA adaptations to make fans feel included so I guess this is part of that.

  4. On the contrary, I believe this is a great idea! Unfortunately, a lot of fans don’t live in US so they’ll never get the opportunity to meet Cassie or one member of the cast and the crew. With this video, they’ll be able to say Thank You for everything they do for us fans and whatever else they’d like to say to these people. So thanks TMI_Source! I totally believe this is a cool idea! 😀
I really hope Cassie and the filmmakers get to see it! 🙂

  5. I live in Spain (so is impossible for me to go to the set) and I still think this is a bad idea, I’m a big fan, I’ve been loving the books for 4 years, when no one else in my town knew about their existence. So you can’t say that this video is important for all the fans because is not, I wish I could have the opportunity to go to the set, so if you can go, don’t waste your time showing them a video! just enjoy it, and let them know that the fans are very proud of them and some advice that we told you. Well, this is my opinion, you can do wathever you want 🙂

  6. Thanks Elena Fili!! We appreciate your support! With the way that I am editing the video it should just be entertaining for anyone to see not just the cast and crew! Also Cassie retweeted our original announcement so I think she agrees! We picked the music! now all we need are the videos!! hahaha

  7. I think it is a great idea!! I would really love to show my support! It is gonna be super-cool!!

  8. Well,i think it’s a great idea too! I am living in Turkey so i cannot go to set anyway so i would love to join this!! This is like the perfect oppurtinity for the ones like me:D

  9. unfortunately i cant make a video since i dont have a camera…but i have to say this is an amazing idea…i would like to know when will the trailer come up , when will the filming finish and what will the movie crew do with the film for such a long period of time until august. im hoping someone will ask the same questions 🙂
this is the best fan site ever 😀
    greetings from Macedonia!

  10. Angela if you would like to still participate with an audio clip then let me know and I can put you in! Contact me on tumblr http://www.megoproductions.tumblr.com

  11. I’m sure that the video will be amazing! For the ones who have doubts, Megan is in fact a professional and I’m convinced her edited video will be appreciated by everyone who watches it. I’ll definitely participate. 🙂

  12. I agree with real. I’m a huge fan, but I don’t think this is a good idea and i’m not going to participate.
Sounds like a lot of fans are really excited though, so I hope they personally have fun with this.

  13. can we ask them questions like who of the crew is most likely to laught during filming or something like that or are we only supposted to thank cassandra and compliment the movie crew?

  14. i personally think this is a great idea. especially because of all the hate jamie’s been getting, who wouldn’t want a little reassurance about something like that?

  15. Just submited a video. I am so happy that people like Tmi source are actually doing this for the fans that never get a chance to meet the cast. It’s the closest thing too.

  16. i don’t know if this is secure, i’m 17 but i’m noy pretty sure make the video.
