Sigourney Weaver in talks to star as Imogen Herondale in ‘THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF ASHES’
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sigourney Weaver is in negotiations to star as Inquisitor Imogen Herondale in The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes.
The project continues the story of a girl (Collins) who discovers she is a demon-hunting Shadowhunter and enters a world filled with warring vampires, werewolves and faeries, while also falling for another Shadowhunter (Bower).
In one of the few new roles, the veteran actress will play the ruthless leader of the Shadowhunters who will stop at nothing to destroy the man who killed her son.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes will begin filming on September 23 in Toronto.

Awesome news – she would be perfect for the role. She is a great actress!!!!!!!:) It ‘s also wonderful if she accepts as people who haven’t heard or heard much about the Mortal Instruments series…….(yes I know it is unthinkable, but I am sure there are some people out there) will start to look at the series when they see a well known actress who has been around a while with a role in our series!!!!!

Why are they casting already and why do they have set film dates? We don’t even know if this movie is going to do well. I am a huge fan and there is nothing i would want more but how can they be so sure this movie won’t bomb like Beautiful Creatures or The Host? I really would like someone to explain this to me so that I could feel better
Well they can’t know that 100%. But one thing the team behind TMI are doing that is better than the oother two you mentioned is PROMOTION! This cast has been everywhere,there’s the merchandise line, soundtrack with a broad variety of artists, there’s a huge presence on social media (i’ve been looking at their facebook the past few days and noticed that they’ve been averaging 10-15k new likes per day), they started playing trailers on tv a month or so ago and have been playing them in theaters since at least December. Magazine covers are coming. Hopefully interviews are coming.
TMI has a larger following and is more positively received than the others as well.

Also I read that they felt more comfortable giving the green light with this sequel because of the fan base of the books in general and how well Hunger Games did and how well Twilight did.
