‘Shadowhunters’ 1×07 Promotional Photos: ‘Major Arcana’
ABC Family/Freeform has released a ton of promotional photos for the seventh episode of Shadowhunters titled “Major Arcana,” which airs Feb. 23.
In “Major Arcana,” Clary and Jace break into Luke’s precinct after realizing that the Mortal Cup is hidden inside the drawing on Dot’s Tarot cards located at the precinct.

Also, there may not be any Malec now, but soon they’ll make the show revolve around it. They even titled episode 12 “Malec”. Malec isn’t supposed to happen until Ashes, in other words, season two. But so long as they balance relationships (if I’m still even watching this excuse of a show), then I’m not complaining.

Well actually there’s this scene that cassie wrote about malec first kiss which happens in the events of city of bones and then there’s this short story in the bane chronicle about their first date. Which they agree upon in that first story of their first kiss.
I doubt they’ll make the show revolve around it. Like last night, there was maybe twenty seconds of any actual Malec. I think it will be shunted to the side, especially considering Alec spends a ton of time engaged to a girl. The books do offer a huge amount of Malec to draw on, but the likelihood they’ll use any of it is nil.

Alec is engaged to a women for 2 to 4 episodes. That’s not a lot of time, seriously…Malec won’t be shunted to the side, believe me. As for the show, they take quite a few Malec moments from the books (episode 4 was full of them; I’m sorry you think episode 4 didn’t really have anything. It was enough Malec for AN INTRODUCTION to the pairing), including their first date (which happens in episode 6).
Everyone on the cast and THEIR significant others ship Malec to death. Why would they? Because they read the scripts, they know what happens. Malec is not going to be shunted like it was in the books (and yeah, I DO think they were shunted, or more, not developed as well as they could have been in the books, and even Cassie said she was tied down in what she could show in terms of Malec; couldn’t show too much otherwise her books would not reach many LGBTQA young people in certain places). The show is going to show more than the books ever did.
Malec is the second biggest pairing on the show after Clace (as per the book series canon too)…they are not shunted. You have to understand that it’s going to take time for them to get together, what with Alec being in love with Jace and being deeply in the closet. And then with all the political issues with the Clave.
This first half of season one is Alec’s journey of discovery. It all comes to a head in episode 12, titled “Malec”. The second half to season one will probably deal with the consequences of what goes down in episode 12 and how Alec and Magnus navigate that and their relationship.
Sorry this is so long, I just had to say this, because after reading the character sides for Alec and Magnus, reading tweets from the cast and crew regarding Malec, etc, I had to tell you that you are absolutely wrong that Malec will be shuned to the side. This pairing is a very important pairing to everyone on the show and the network, and it will be treated with sensitivity and respect.
