As ‘Mortal Instruments’ fans anxiously–and by anxiously I mean obsessively–wait for the casting of one Shadowhunter Jace Wayland in the ‘City of Bones’ movie adaptation, MTV treated us to an exclusive interview with our Clary Fray, Lily Collins.
Collins confirmed that she has read with several actors for the role of Jace. Could this mean she has read with fan favorite Alex Pettyfer? It sure looked so earlier in the day:
“Collins said she has read with several actors, including Alex Pettyfer, but was tightlipped to expand upon any favorites or which actors the filmmakers have preferred, but she will be involved in casting Jace.”
Soon after MTV changed their story to the following:
“Collins said she has read with several actors, but wouldn’t expand upon any favorites, like Alex Pettyfer, but was tightlipped to expand upon any favorites or which actors the filmmakers have preferred, but she will be involved in casting Jace.”
One has to wonder if MTV was simply mistaken or if it was deliberately done to boost ratings for the website. I say the latter.
So what is Collins looking for in her perfect Jace?
“Jace is confident and knows he’s confident,” Collins explained. “He’s good-looking and knows he’s good-looking. He’s got that je ne sais quoi, in that he walks into a room and you go, ‘Wow.’ He knows he’s the best thing in the room. He’s got to have wit but also be very vulnerable, and I think it’s hard. I think a lot of actors don’t necessarily want to show vulnerability, but [for] this character, it’s completely necessary but, at the same time, that overconfidence as well. I think it’s going to be that thing where they walk into a room and you do a reading and go, ‘Wow, I really can’t see anyone else as this character,’ so it’s going to be an interesting process.”
So what do you think, ‘Mortal Instruments’ fans? Did Lily hit the nail on the head with her classification of the perfect Jace? Who is your perfect Jace? Sound off below in the comments!
