‘Mortal Instruments’ recognized as contender for ‘Next Page-to-Screen Series’

The accolades keep coming for The Mortal Instruments.

Moviefone named The Mortal Instruments as one of the up-and-coming film franchises in their list of contenders for the ‘Next Page-to-Screen Series.’

While the film remains in pre-production, things are expected to pick up quickly as filming on City of Bones, the first installment, is scheduled to begin by year’s end.

The Mortal Instruments joined the ranks of The Hunger Games, Incarceron, Matched, Divergent and Shiver, who were also named as contenders.

'The Mortal Instruments' has been recognized as a contender for 'Next Page-to-Screen Series.'

‘The Mortal Instruments’
Written By: Cassandra Clare, whose supernatural-romance books have a massive following that spans tweens to moms
What It’s About: Clary Fray (played by Lily Collins) is a New York City teen with a peculiar power — she can see supernatural beings, like the cocky young demon hunter Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower) and other strange creatures that appear out of nowhere. When her mother gets kidnapped, Clary discovers she’s not quite the regular city girl she imagined.
Movie Cred: In addition to casting Collins and Campbell Bower (who beat out Alex Pettyfer and a crew of other hunky young blonds to land the role of Jace), Screen Gems has signed on director-producer Scott Charles Stewart (‘Priest,’ ‘Legion’), and is planning a 2012 release.

  1. what do you by he beat alex pettyfer??????for your information, alex pettyfer was the first one who got the offer…. he just turned it down… i’m sorry guys but jamie is just the second choice…..

    • ….and thank our lucky stars that Jamie is our Jace and that AP “turned down” the role. He probably knew that he doesn’t have what it takes and would’ve just destroyed the entire project with his lack of talent, very unfortunate appearance and disgusting attitude.

      • if Alex is such a bad actor, then why does he still receives so many projects????? and by the way, Jamie was given the role because he auditioned, meanwhile, the role was offered to alex without him having the need to audition….

    • Kim, AP is a horrible actor. Stop goggling over his high cheek-bones, gorgeous eyes, or whatever it is and realize the truth. Seriously, worst actor I’ve ever seen. I would have pulled my hair out if he got the part. GO JAMIE! 🙂

      • alex is not a horrible actor…. he is actually good portraying the roles being given to him… and right from the start, he was my image of jace…. bad ass and good looking….

Chelsy – Take it from someone who read both “I Am Number Four” and “Beastly”, the characters aren’t portrayed well at all. He totally butchered Beastly, which was one of my favorite books. I’ll admit that Jamie doesn’t look like how I envisioned Jace, but I feel that he is really going to bring the character to the role, which to me surpasses looks. Jace could have brown hair for all I care as long as he NAILS THE ROLE. Besides, CC said that Jamie IS Jace, so much so that the audition made her cry. Whether Alex Pettyfer got an offer or not, CC was rooting for Jamie and really, who knows the character better than she does?

      • i also have read beastly and i am number four. alex was great in both but there really are differences in the storyline. But why blame alex?He portrays his roles well, very welll actually. The one at fault why the movies turned out like that are the writers. and anyways, both movies were still great.

  2. Go TMI!!! Go Cassie, Jamie and Lily!!! I am ecstatic that my fave book series is getting the recognition it so deserves. Cassie Clare is the most fabulous fantasy writer and I wish her every success! 🙂

  3. omg. I can’t believe you guys really think that Jamie is the perfect guy for Jace Wayland. He does NOT deserve to play the role. Google Jace Wayland and you’ll see who the people really want for the role. You’ll see pictures of Alex Pettyfer! And on surveys, Alex tops the voting. Huh. Don’t fool yourselves. Alex Pettyfer FTW!

Since when do polls say who is the best Jace Wayland? Polls are based on looks and looks are definitely not everything. I want acting skill over looks (Because look at how well looks worked for Twilight…. not.) None of us have seen Alex attempt Jace… I mean, for all we know, he could have totally sucked at it. I’m not “fooling myself”, I’m believing in what evidence is available, which at this point is so much praise for Jamie from both Lily AND Cassie… I mean, C’MON, the AUTHOR loves him. Why are we doubting the one person who created this world?!

      • uhh, how sure are you that polls are based on looks? it is not just about the looks. people voted for Alex not just because he’s hot and gorgeous. it’s because they see him as Jace. Alex is a great actor btw.

  4. You guys, Jamie Bower IS Jace, so there is really no point in arguing over Alex Pettyfer… I think that all we can do now is trust in the movie/Cassandra Clare and I also think we should be really supportive of Jamie. Pouting over or dissing Alex doesn’t do anything to help this movie. I just hope that in the end it turns out okay…

    • since, the casting of jace has already been done, I guess there really is no point in arguing… But i just want to say that if jamie is your ideal jace, then in my case, alex is my jace… that’s all….

      • I never said Jamie was my ideal Jace… Jamie was never how I envisioned Jace… but that doesn’t mean that I don’t think he will totally rock and do a kick-ass job as Jace. All I said is that there is no point in arguing because he IS Jace, whether we like it or not. I just think we should put aside this whole Alex Pettyfer feud and start being supportive of the guy we KNOW is Jace. Once a TMI Fan, always a TMI Fan… no matter what happens to this movie, we as fans need to be supportive.

  5. Meg’s right. Sorry for disrespecting your opinions. I guess Jamie really deserves the role, because it was given to him. So I want to say sorry for what I’ve said. As an avid fan, I guess you feel the same way I feel when somebody says that your favorite actor/actress/whatever lacks talent, has a very unfortunate appearance and disgusting attitude. So yeah, I’ll be looking forward to the movie. I’m hoping for the best. 🙂

  6. I’m sorry too, you guys. No meant disrespect to Alex Pettyfer… I’m just SO excited about this movie… I haven’t loved a book this much since my huge Twilight craze many years ago and Jace is seriously a character that tops everything for me: He is the funniest character I’ve ever read about, the most bad-ass, the most charming, the one I wish would jump right out of the book… I just want him to be the best. 🙂 We will all just have to wait and see, then. I’m just happy we can all agree that we love Mortal Instruments. ❤ 🙂
