Every Monday here at The Mortal Instruments Source is Movie Monday, where we talk about one of the many topics involving the movie adaptation of “City of Bones.”

With no new casting news in regards to the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones since early June, fans of Cassandra Clare’s bestselling series are getting restless as the anticipated start date for production—November—creeps closer by the day.

Here’s what we do know: Lily Collins will play heroine Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell Bower will play badass Shadowhunter Jace Wayland, with filming rumored to start in January 2012.

While it’s not much to go off of after sitting on this news since December 2010 and June 2011, respectively, have no fear that the producers are hard at work casting the remaining characters and working out set and prop designs, as well as other important facets in the movie-making business.

It’s hard to sit back and anxiously await any sliver of casting news when you watch fellow YA book series The Hunger Games announce a casting—or sometimes castings—every day until every character has been cast, as it did back in May.

Fortunately, Mortal Instruments has something that The Hunger Games doesn’t have: new books on the way.

Clockwork Prince, the second installment in The Infernal Devices, will be released in December of this year. Soon after in May 2012, City of Lost Souls, the fifth book in The Mortal Instruments, will hit the stands. Each will have one last installment to be released in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

When both of those series have ended by 2013, there should be a City of Bones movie and hopefully, a City of Ashes movie in production. Clare has also hinted about another Shadowhunters series titled The Dark Artifices, which is currently in the planning stages.

So while movie news is moving relatively slowly right now, keep in mind that there are new and exciting developments in the series on the way, as well as production on the movie(s).

They say that anticipation is the best thing.
