‘Clockwork Prince’ hits shelves illegally in the Philippines and Germany, fans sharing spoilers

There have been reports that Clockwork Prince, the second installment in The Infernal Devices, is for sale already–illegally–in the Philippines.

Clockwork Prince isn’t due to be released until Dec. 6.

The news has Cassandra Clare outraged.

“That is a big illegal ugly mess and I am not happy about it either,” she said on Twitter.

Fans in the Philippines have been posting photos of Clockwork Prince on Tumblr and some have been sharing chunks of spoilers.

“The publisher should be calling the stores right now and telling them to pull the books off the shelves. Now,” Clare tweeted.

But this isn’t the first time that this has happened.

Back on Mar. 26, fans in Sweden received City of Fallen Angels eight days prior to its scheduled release of Apr. 4.

For those who have received Clockwork Prince early please do not spoil it for everyone else. It’s just wrong.

UPDATE: Copies of Clockwork Prince have also been surfacing in Germany.

  1. That’s just so wrong. It’s unfair for those who have been waiting to buy the book legally..:@

  2. Oh crap. I saw it out on the bookstore yesterday and I was like… this book is supposed to be released in December right? That’s why its price is quite lower than usual and it has a “collector’s edition” on the cover. Good thing I was out of money and wasn’t able to buy it. I didn’t know it was illegal.
