I wanted to clear up the rumor surrounding Evanescence and the The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack.
There is an article from Buzz Sugar circulating about a connection between the band Evanescence and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Director Scott Stewart (Priest) during the interview stated that Music is one of the significant elements as it will infuse the euphoria level of the story as it goes along.
And I hope it is Amy Lee from the Evanescence on her song; Imaginary to be chosen for the theme song of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
I believe this article is being taken out of context. Yes, Scott Stewart said in an interview that, “It’s also a really music influenced movie and so that’s something that’s gonna be really fun, a chance to integrate a lot of contemporary music into the movie.”
But he did not say that Evanescence was one of the bands they wanted on the soundtrack. But it’s not to say that he doesn’t want them on the soundtrack at all. He’s just never addressed it publicly.
It is actually the AUTHOR of the article that thinks “Imaginary” by Evanescence would be a great theme song for The Mortal Instruments.
In fact, Stewart and Cassandra Clare actually would both like to incorporate indie bands onto the soundtrack.
“We both have a love of Brooklyn indie bands,” Clare said in an interview. “We talked about making a whole soundtrack basically New York and Brooklyn indie bands, the kind that Clary and Simon would go to see like on a weekend show.”
In pre-production there are a lot of things that the studio is busying themselves with, casting and release date, and music is definitely not at the top. That concern picks up once filming begins.
It’s been six months since we’ve had some casting news, so I understand that fans are antsy and eager for any new nugget of information.
With Screen Gems aiming for a filming start this spring, which could be anywhere between March through May, movie news could start picking up at any time.
