Principal photography on ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ set for August 15 in Toronto

Principal photography on the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to begin on August 15 in Toronto.

Author Cassandra Clare confirmed as such and also revealed that some filming will also take place in New York, the setting of the books.

Clare also spoke about release dates, which is the final step toward a film getting the green light.

I don’t have a release date — two different release dates were mentioned to me when I was in LA, but I don’t know which will eventually be final: it depends on which distributor Constantin goes with. Release date is the last piece of info you get before a green light — it means a studio has literally blocked a time for your film. It is legit exciting news when it happens, so keep your fingers crossed.

In a press release for the announcement of Clare’s next Shadowhunter series The Dark Artifices, it was revealed that Constantin Film and Unique Features would be announcing some “exciting” news regarding the City of Bones film in “coming weeks.”

Was the announcement of new director Harald Zwart that news or perhaps is it a confirmed release date for City of Bones?

Things are indeed moving at warp speed now. Something tells me those and many more questions will soon be answered.
