Could a release date announcement for ‘City of Bones’ be on the way?

With news that Sony Pictures is closing in on a deal for The Mortal Instruments, one has to believe that movie news should soon be plentiful, especially with principal photography set to begin later this summer.

That next bit of news?

Perhaps the release date for the first film City of Bones?

A couple of weeks ago, Clare said that Constantin was looking at two different release dates. The final release date would depend on which studio Constantin chose as the distributor, which is looking to be Sony Pictures.

Screen Gems, a smaller studio within Sony Pictures, was originally attached to the project before they dropped it last summer.

A release date is the final step toward getting a green light for production so things could begin to happen quite fast when news finally comes in.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will begin filming on August 15 in Toronto.

Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are attached to the project, as the leads Clary and Jace. Harald Zwart will be directing with Constantin Film and Unique Features to produce.
