Casting underway for all parts in ‘City of Bones’ movie
Cassandra Clare revealed that casting for the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (in theaters August 23, 2013) is currently underway for all parts.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will begin filming on August 15 in Toronto and New York City.

Jace (if the rumors about JCB are true): Alexander Ludwig, Louis Hunter, Max Irons
Simon: Nick Hoult, Logan Lerman
Alex: Nick Hoult (yeah, he could be either – great actor), Jonatan Testa
Isabelle: Phoebe Tonkin, Kaya Scodelario
Magnus Bane: Shirota Yuu, Darren Criss (a favorite of Cassie’s)
Alexander Ludwig would be amazing! And he’s not too old. I never actually thought of him before but now he’s at the top of my list
i def agree with Nick Hoult as Alec….i thnk he would b perfect!!

I think they should cast an unknown for Jace. And maybe get him to look just like the character???

Jamie is still Jace (though’s he is negoations. I really hope he keeps the part though. if not, maybe an unkown or austin butler, alex, or ed speelers too could be a great Jace.

Logan Lerman is one of my favorite actors at the moment. I don’t see him being Simon, though. It might grow on me, I guess, if I keep trying to picture it. But at the moment, it just doesn’t seem like it would work.
I guess it might be the fact that he’s not awkward even a tad bit.
Lily Collins, I believe, is great for Clary.
JCB for Jace is pretty good, too. I don’t think I’ll ever see anyone who resembles my idea of him, though.
Carter Jenkins would make a good Alec. Nick Hoult would be good, too.
Phoebe Tonkin as Isabelle, I think, is the best suggestion so far. A friend of mine says Camilla Belle would be good… but I don’t think so…
Michael Fassbender for Luke… That’s the only one I’m sure about.
Magnus could be played by Shirota Yuu… or I don’t know.. that one’s really hard.
I think Devon Bostick would make a better Simon than Logan Lerman.
I like Hugh Laurie for Hodge, but he is a little too cool for it…
The Lightwoods would be hard to cast for… but as long as they’re intimidating looking (not scary intimidating, but high-society intimidating), I would probably be happy with it.
I’m sure the casting people will do a good job, even if none of the people I suggest are used. I’m not a casting director, after all…
I think Lucy Hale would make a good Isabelle. I hope they pick good actors and not someone who isn’t so great but has the perfect look. They can do a lot with makeup and hair!
I love Odette Annable as Isabelle, she’s perfect!
I had to look her up as the name wasn’t familiar. She has a great look! I just realized my choice of Lucy Hale wouldn’t work because she is so short and even heels wouldn’t make her tall enough to be Isabelle!

I never really casted anyone in my mind for Clary but I think that Lily Collins was an excellent choice, I imagined Alex Pettyfer to be Jace, and after watching The Secret Circle, I thought that Chris Zylka, but I believe that Jamie Campbell Bower would be a good choice (I didn’t imagine Jace to be thin though, I imagined him sturdily built). For the other characters, I imagined something along the looks of these actors
Simon: Eugene Simon, Alex Watson, Connor Paolo
Isabelle: Emily Blunt (She’s a little old but I think she’d be perfect for Isabelle), Olivia Wilde
Alec: Hugo Becker, Logan Lerman (He’s been a popular sugestion)
Magnus: Gregg Sulkin
Valentine: Jude Law, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Daniel Gilles
Hodge: Hugh Laurie
Jocelyn: Kate Walsh or Cate Blanchett (I admire both actresses and I am internally conflicted between who would do a better Jocelyn. I know that Cate Blanchett would be able to fight if it came to it, she did well when she played Elizabeth I, but Kate Walsh… I just love seeing her on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice)
Luke: Tom Cruise, Patrick Dempsey, Matthew Settle
Sebastian Verlac: Ian Somerhadler, Rupert Friend, Alex Pettyfer (who I thought would of made the perfect Jace)
