Casting Talk: Has Rhys Ward auditioned for Simon?
With the number of actors auditioning for roles in the film adaptation of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ growing every day, several actors have gone public about their audition, most notably those going out for Magnus.
But the latest audition talk comes in the form of Canadian actor Rhys Ward.
After a source told me that Ward had auditioned for the role of Simon, Ward posted the following tweet on May 22.
When asked about whether he auditioned he responded:
Then Ward responded to another tweet on May 28th:
While he remains mum about whether or not he did audition his tweets suggest that he has indeed auditioned. No word on if he was one of the actors who tested with Lily Collins (Clary) last week, but his tweets suggest that he’s still waiting to hear back so it’s a possibility.
Could you see Rhys as Simon? Sound off in the comments!

Seems like an ok choice, but for some reason I pictured a guy who looked more ordinary… I don’t know.
i havent seen anything of his before, and it doesnt look like he has much experience from what i saw on IMDb but he reminds more of alec than simon 😛
more alec then simon.
i was just about to say that then i saw your comment.
I picture simon much more boyish. I dont feel like this guy has a place for one of our main heroes
He looks good but not the type i would imagine for simon
I could definitely see him as Simon! He’s very hot! 😀
He reminds of Alec… waaay to much ! in my head he we would like the perfect Alec – but he is cute, so maybe he could work out as a Simon to
I think he’s looking like an Alec more than Simon personally for me. He looks maybe a bit too masculine faced for the role of Simon, but then again, I think I’d be alright with it if he does get the part.
Mmmm I can see a Simon in him 😉 hahaha I dig it!
I can see it 😀
With some brown contacts he could totally be Simon!
