A cover reveal is not only an exciting moment for fans, but also signals that the release of said book isn’t too far off.
Cassandra Clare got to talking on Tumblr about future covers for Clockwork Princess, City of Heavenly Fire and The Dark Artifices.
I actually just got the comp (the close to final draft cover) of Clockwork Princess last week. It’s gorgeous. It may be my favorite of the Clockwork covers, and they are my favorite covers I’ve ever gotten. Tessa is on the cover. I wish I could share even a gazillionth of its prettiness with you. I think this is about exactly how much I am allowed to show:
without Simon&Schuster actually coming for me with a meathook. (My life seems to be all about things I am not supposed to say, or show, lately. Gah! So not in my nature.)
I don’t know who will be on the cover of Heavenly Fire. I know what I’d like: we’ll see if I get it. 😀
As for The Dark Artifices, it’s so far out, production-wise, that I just don’t know if they’ll stick with the design aesthetic of Mortal and Infernal or go for something totally different. In book cover design time, three years might as well be a million — for all I know by 2015 all books will come wrapped in salmon or something.
Clare said back in May that we could see the Clockwork Princess cover reveal soon. So stay tuned for more details about the reveal. Clockwork Princess is due out March 19, 2013.
Have The Infernal Devices covers been your favorite? Who do you think will be on City of Heavenly Fire? Should the covers of The Dark Artifices follow the same aesthetic of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices? Sound off in the comments!
