Jamie Campbell Bower talks bulking up for Jace in ‘Mortal Instruments’
There’s no doubt that Jamie Campbell Bower is extremely dedicated in prepping for his role as Shadowhunter Jace Wayland in the upcoming film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (due out August 23, 2013).
Bower talked to The Telegraph at the launch of Lacoste’s flagship store last week about his transformation.
“I’m in physical training every day,” he tells Mandrake at the launch of Lacoste’s flagship store in Knightsbridge.
“I’m drinking lots of protein shakes. I’m going to the gym and doing weights in the morning, then, in the afternoon, I’m doing something called Krav Maga, which is a martial art.”
The actor, 23, who resides in Clapham, south London, adds: “If you live in a dodgy area like I do, then it could be a handy thing for me to have.”
Bower had previously revealed his extensive “gladiator training” and we knew about those protein shakes. It’s cool to learn that he’s been studying martial arts for the role.

i have to admit i didn’t like him at first !! the thing is, time goes and thanx to my imagination, i started picturing him as my beloved jace. now i can’t imagine another actor for the role, i wouldn’t bear that, and even though he looks weirdly out of stage, i mean even cassie cried when she saw his audition, i’m sure he’ll manage to show us the tough and arrogant and most of all the sexy side of jace wayland. go jamie!! i’ve faith i you!

I have to admit, at first I didn’t like him as Jace. But then I watched a few videos of him in Twilight (Love the books, but the movies suck). Now that I know how much he is doing for the role, I think that he is perfect. I am definately impressed! And, of course, the fact that he isn’t exactly bad looking doesn’t hurt 🙂
This type of training should be really tough but I am sure he will play the best Jace ever 🙂

Jamie’s going to be a great Jace and he’s looking down. He definitly got the look down too and the muscled but lean phyisue that Jace has( i’m sure he’ll look even better once he finishes). he’s the talent, and dedication too!

I don’t like the idea that he is playing jace but I think that if he gets a lot bulker and cuts his hair (at least from how I see him in the picture above) and curls it a bit then he will look like a much better jace. Also me plus a lot of other people will be able to deal with him being jace if he does that.
Although I would rather Chris Zylka as Jace, I’m happy that Jamie is so dedicated
