Cassandra Clare and Holly Black writing screenplay for ‘The Iron Trial’
Before fans of Cassandra Clare are treated to The Dark Artifices, a sequel series to the bestselling The Mortal Instruments, they will get a first taste of Clare’s collaboration with fellow New York Times bestselling author Holly Black in The Iron Trial.
Constantin Film, the studio that acquired the rights to both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, quickly nabbed the rights to The Iron Trial.
Clare revealed in a chat with fans last Saturday that she and Black were working on the screenplay. And according to Deadline, both Clare and Black will executive produce.
“Holly and I are writing the screenplay for Iron Trial…”
The Iron Trial, the first in a planned five-book series to be published by Scholastic, will be released sometime in 2014.
Here is a synopsis:
Twelve-year-old Callum Hunt has grown up knowing three rules by heart. Never trust a magician. Never pass a test a magician gives you. And never let a magician take you to the Magisterium.
Call is about to break all the rules. And when he does, his life will change in ways he can’t possibly imagine.

sounds interesting. maybe i’ll read it when it comes out and see the movie. maybe I’ll read Holly’s stuff too
love clare but not really a fan of holly black having mixed feelings about the book
it sounds quite childish…i absolutely love cassandra clare but it seems that shes trying to target a younger market. the book doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea but i could be completely wrong!
I’m a huge fan of Cassandra, obvioulsy, but I’ve always been undecided on Holly Black’s stuff. For all we know, however, they’re writing styles combined could work out amazingly. I look forward to the books!
im a huge fan of Canssandra Clare’s books and no doubt that this one would blow me away just as the others had…..cant wait 🙂
So I guess Callum passes a test from a magitian giving him acess to magisteriam and then has to find his way home or is on some quest and has to go to masgisteriam eather way his companion is a magitian. can he trust him. this might be targeted at a younger audiance or it could be for us. Magnus is a warlock and i love him
Can’t wait! It’ll be as good as the others!
