Cassandra Clare has finished writing ‘Clockwork Princess’

The final book in the bestselling The Infernal Devices trilogy is complete–well, the first draft is, anyway.

Cassandra Clare took to Tumblr to tell her fans that she has finished writing Clockwork Princess, which clocks in at 139,425 words, and has sent it off to her editor.

Goodbye, massive book (that will doubtless get more massive in revision)! I am sure my editor will appreciate getting you on a holiday. And now I go off to watch fireworks.

While Clockwork Princess still has to go through revisions, the story of Tessa, Will, Jem and the rest of the gang of Infernal Devices London is over.

Clare also revealed the final word of Clockwork Princess is: “Silence.”

Of course, that is likely to change as the book undergoes revision.

Clockwork Princess will be released on March 19, 2013.

this will be sad and i will read it over and over with the rest of id and tmi. but in a way the adventrures don’t end. they will live on in manga, fanfiction and possibly movies

I know it’s still unpolished and everything, but I wouldn’t exactly complain if she accidentaly sent it to Tumblir instead… just saying 🙂

Not sure yet, but I’ve got this feeling that I’ll be sad. Not because it’ll but because of how it’ll end. I think that setting the epilogue in 2007, so far, without reading the book, meant to me that Tessa will be immortal and, as Shadowhunters can age and die, end up alone. Heartbreaking it’d be. Hoping Cassie surprises us.
