Our 10 Favorite Moments from the CITY OF BONES teaser trailer

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or away from the Internet you know that the teaser trailer for THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES premiered on Wednesday (Nov. 14) night on MTV.com.

Seeing as it’s only a “teaser trailer,” and seeing as they only wrapped filming last Thursday, we got a significant amount of footage in a span of 1:46.

It was so hard to only pick our 10 favorite moments in the teaser trailer, but we managed.

Here they are (in no particular order):

CLARY & JACE’S FIRST MEETING AT PANDEMONIUM: This is the moment that started it all. So it was perfect that this moment lead off the teaser trailer. I don’t know about you but Clary’s scream sent chills down my spine and the look Jace gives Clary (you can see me?) is even more spine-tingling.

HOTEL DUMORT: So there were so many fantastic moments from the Hotel Dumort scene that we had to group it all in one. From Jace’s flip (seriously how cool was that?! Way to go Jamie!) to shirtless Simon to snarky Jace (“Have a little faith.”) to Alec taking down a vamp, Hotel Dumort already looks like it’s going to pack quite a punch in the final product.

HODGE’S NARRATION: Jared Harris narrates most of the trailer as his Hodge Starkweather is explaining Shadowhunters and their world to both Clary and the audience. It’s told in such an epic way when mixed with the wonderful background music by John Murphy makes for a chilling feel.

JACE & HIS STELE: The shot we get of Jace burning a rune into the inside of his left arm is one of the coolest shots of the trailer. We get a glimpse at the stele and the blue light it emits when it makes contact on Jace’s skin. Not to mention that intense look on Jace’s face as Hodge narrates over the scene “Shadowhunter: half-angel, half-human.” Perfection.

JACE & VALENTINE FIGHTING: We were thrilled to get any shot of Valentine and the fact that we got a few, including a scene where he is sparing with Jace at what appears to be Renwicks, is just an extra treat. We see the pair locked in a sparing war which, by the way, is really Jamie Campbell Bower and Jonathan Rhys Meyers going at it.

ALEC SNAPS AT JACE: It was nice to get a moment with Parabatai Jace and Alec and it was even better to get a glimpse of Alec’s jealously now that Clary has stolen the affections of one Jace Wayland. “What is it about her?” “She’s different.” “She’s going to get us all killed.”

“YOU’RE NOT A MUNDANE”: Getting the shots of Java Jones, especially in the alley when Jace is explaining to Clary that she’s not mundane, was a fantastic surprise. This line by Jace is delivered so perfectly and brilliantly by Jamie. It’s already being swooned over by fans as the word mundane will never sound the same again.

CLARY & JACE AT THE PORTAL: Jace shows Clary the portal, which she pokes around at. This is such a cool shot of our lead hero and heroine at what we assume is the portal at Renwick’s. The mirror reflection is such a brilliant shot.

RUNE IN CLARY’s COFFEE: This shot was beyond cool as us Shadowhunters glimpse an Angelic Power rune in Clary’s coffee. Clary is intrigued and it’s a subtle way of indicating that she is a Shadowhunter. Plus, a rune on her coffee? That’s just a freaking cool idea.

WELCOME TO THE CITY OF BONES: Was there ever a more perfect way to end a trailer? It’s a line that leaves the fans and mundanes alike begging for more. And that, my friends, is why it is called a teaser trailer.
