Cassandra Clare recently shared the complete titles for the trilogy: Lady Midnight, Prince of Shadows and The Queen of Air and Darkness.

Here’s a synopsis of Book 1: Lady Midnight:
Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood. Raised in the Los Angeles Institute, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian. As Emma hunts those who caused the death of her parents, the trail they’re following leads back to those they’ve always been taught to trust. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with Julian — her closest friend and, because he is her parabatai, the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.
Keep in mind there is no current confirmed release date as we are two years away from Lady Midnight‘s release and that the release can be changed anytime from now until 2015.

I don’t think it means that he is dead. Just that before the next series starts, Jace is the best ShadowHunter. Like the one all the new ShadowHunters strive to be like everyday. That’s why she put it like that. Jace is her role model, in another way of putting it.
“Since Jace Wayland” doesn’t imply that he’s dead (nor alive) but I’m sure it means Emma wants to be as good a Shadowhunter as Jace.
Let’s face it…
NO ONE CAN EVER BE BETTER THAN JACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But seriously… WTF, nothing can EVER happen to Jace!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if Magnus is gonna be in TDA?
I mean he WAS in TID and IS in TMI, one can only wonder is he is gonna be in TDA.
Cassie can’t let something happen to Jace, there would be uproar!! She wouldn’t do that…… would she?……would she!!? I was so worried about what was going to happen to Will in TID I never thought to worry about Jace in TMI, I don’t think I could deal with it if something happened to Jace!!
If she did anything with Jace that ends up with him dead, it would ruin her entire career and no one would go watch the films . . . because there would be no point of watching your FAVORITE CHARACTER DIE IN FRONT OF YOUR VERY EYES
It makes no sense to kill off one of your main characters, so she’s most likely not killing off Jace.

I’m really hoping that says ‘since Jace Wayland’ because Jace is now ‘old’ and ‘retired’. I swear to god, if Jace dies, I WILL.NOT.READ.THE.DARK.ARTIFICES.
On a less depressing note, I hope we actually get to read about the parabatai ceremony.
Jace isn’t old cuz its only going to be 5 years afterward! He’s like only 17 now so he’ll be around 22 in TDA, unless he dies
;(….. Anyways he would also only retire if he gets some sort of disability or if it had something to do with Clary. Maybe he has a higher position in the Clave like the Inquisitor, or something. I also do believe I recollect reading something (i can’t remember when or where from) but it said that the person who was going to die in CoHF hadn’t died yet so it can’t be Jace because *spoiler alert for readers who haven’t read CoG yet* he died, shortly, but came back to life.
So that means Simon can’t die either , seen as he’s dead already 🙂 ….. and Jace better not die !!
I’m really worried about Magnus dying…I’m kinda expecting a secondary character, like Luke, to die too.

Someone won’t survive the final battle of CoHF. When they die, I will shrivel up too, because I LOVE them all so MUCH. Also I really hope Tessa and Magnus are going to be in TDA. Jem, too. OMG!!!! Whats gonna happen when he meets Emma??!!! I cannot wait for 1 year for CoHF and 2 for Lady Midnight. *sobs at the long wait, and jumps in excitement*

Is anyone else wondering where Emma came from?
She’s a Carstairs.
And, as far as I know, the only Carstairs we’ve seen in the series is Jem. And well, his parents, but they died, and I think it said he was an only child. And Emma can’t be Tessa and Jem’s kid, because then she would have to be five, because [slight spoiler] their reunion happens after TMI, right? And this happens five years after TMI.
So would Emma be, like, a descendant of a distant relative of Jem’s? Like, his uncle, or aunt, or something? And if that’s the case, why didn’t Jem just go with that family instead of going to the Institute?
…I feel like I missed something, because it doesn’t add up for me. 0.o

Jem has cousins whos gonna be in TLH (The Last Hours) so Emma is probably their family
She is most likely a descendant of Jems uncle who Tessa said might have kids in the future when he had hoped to pass on the sword to the next carstair
ARGGGGGGGGHHHHH SO EXCITED. I honestly don’t think that this implies Jace dies I mean hes already died once and then he almost died again a second time it would be pointless for him to die in the last book. And plus Cassandra Clare knows she would have a target on her head if anything happened to Jace.
