Or, Sebastian could just be saying that as we all know that’s the kind of thing he would do. Maybe he thought he killed that boyfriend but he really didn’t. Or it could be like when Jace died and Clary brought him back and whoever died will be brought back somehow…….please Cassie, we don’t want any of the characters to loose their nearest and dearest love!!!
My money’s on Alec being dead. The way it’s written sounds as though it’s sort of off hand. If it was to Clary about Jace, I think he would drag it out and really talk about how he’s dead and why he’s dead and exactly how dead he his and what colour his boxers were (he checked. They’re not briefs). By saying the word boyfriend, he seems to be making a point, and Jonathan does points.
If it was Simon, he’d make the point of him being a vampire (ie; By the way, the Daylighter’s dead. Thought you should know).
Which leaves Alec, and the only point to be made about him is that… he is a boyfriend to a man/boy. Also, this follows the train of thought about Alec being just a small part of Magnus’s enormous life (Thought you should know). It’s very ‘not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but let’s twist the knife a little riiiiight here’.
But then, what do I know?

Yeah, but CP2 epilogue might be either during or after CoHF, so you really can’t tell.
It’s after CoHF because in CP2’s epilogue it said 2008 and the events of the mortal instruments takes place in 2007
Yeah, I know I thought so too, though Cassie said that the Epilogue could be either during or after CoHF. Definitely before TDA. Maybe the events in CoHF span wider than the previous books and it actually ends 2008?
Yes, but I have a feeling that Clary and her rune powers might have something to do with that. But I desperately hope that it’s not Magnus! It would kill me to see him killed like that because he was immortal, and dying like that just seems to sudden.
for Malec shippers – I think Alec will have a new boyfriend in the book and then he dies because Sebastian’s going to kill him and then Alec and Magnus will get back together and they will live happily ever after! OR since Magnus and Alec has broken up technically They’re not each other’s boyfriend so Sebastian can’t say that their boyfriend is dead.
for Sizzy shippers – since they haven’t really defined their relationship, simon isn’t izzy’s boyfriend.
which leaves us with Clace and Jordan/Maia
Clace (hear me out first) – jace has heaven’s fire in him which means he could be brought back to life if he were the one Sebastian was talking about.
Jordan/Maia – I’m sorry but sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good. you will be rewarded in the next life. :))

Okay so I have major theories, nobody will read this but I have to put this somewhere.
Alec: well it could be him but he wouldn’t be dead dead but like dead/dying, and Magnus would blow a gasket and do that thing (like Crowley in SP) and snap his fingers and there would be Sebastian on the walls (like its a friggin Tarantino movie) and he’ll be dying and Simon will turn him or magic will happen but there will be an immortal ALEC!
Jordan: maybe he tried to be a hero or something and hot his ass nailed to the wall then Maia loses her shit…
I don’t think it’s Jace, or Simon but if its one of the two it’s probably Simon because and then the goodbye thing could be Sizzy sinking!
(SPOILER) Mark of Cain is gone, and Jace has the heavenly fire so probably a tough boat to sink!
All I could think about when I saw this is the time Jonathan revealed he wasn’t Sebastian and got totally disgusted by Alec. If he killed Magnus I can definately see him taunting him about it. And I don’t think it would matter to him that they broke up, saying ‘boyfriend’ anyway would just be rubbing salt in the wound. 😦
On the other hand… We’re finding out who Magnus’ ultra-powerful-daemon-prince Father is soon, aren’t we? Maybe if he does die he won’t stay dead…

oh me feels are too hurt and confused right now!!! so many victims sebastian can kill but hopefully that person lives or that he’s lying or that the person resurrects from the dead.
Good point. The Bane Chronicles do seem like a special devotion to a very beloved character who is to meet his demise and somewhat ease the whole fandom’s pain.
And it definitely sounds like Magnus to sacrifice himself to cure Jem, not having to endure Alec’s death -after enduring too many- and die an honorable death on the rightful side, among Shadowhunters. But it is specifically stated that you cannot make a mortal immortal or vice versa and there is a great cost to be paid to take someone’s immortality, so even if Magnus saved Jem from his illness/addiction Jem is still a mortal.
My immediate reaction was literally me gasping out loud in the middle of getting ready in the morning. WHO’S BOYFRIEND?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

oh god. who could could it be? i really don’t want anyone to die. i mean it would suck if jordan died but it would suck more if simon, or jace, or mangus or alec died. or maybe sebstians just being cruel or thought he killed them.
I don’t think it’s Jace. Seems a bit too obvious in my opinion. I have a pretty good gut feeling that it’s more of a supporting character. My money’s on it either being Simon, Jordan or Alec/Magnus. I remember how back in TDA and in the summary it mentions Emma being “being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood” and a fan girl went all, “OMG! THIS CONFIRMS THAT JACE IS DEAD!!!” and CC firmly stated that just because there’s something “better than bread, doesn’t mean bread isn’t still out there” (or something like that anyhow) and implied Clace was still out there and celebrities in the new Shadowhunter world.
Plus, seriously. If she were to kill off Jace then we, as the fans of the series, would be rendered no choice but to boycott the series. Don’t get me wrong, I love the series. But if she were to kill off Jace, I’d seriously be forced to burn my novels. It’s one thing to make a bold move and kill off a supporting character (example being Max), but to completely shoot yourself in the leg or head (this being killing off Jace or Alec/Magnus)… that seriously is just a stupid move. Well, at least to me I wouldn’t risk it. But maybe that’s just me.

He can’t leave ! And I don’t think it’s Alec . It could be Jordan , cuz he’s as important as Jessie was and we all know what happened to her . . . It can’t be Simon . Yeah, I agree. Though I won’t burn my books! But yeah, killing Jace, for Cassie, actually means killing her own writing career. I won’t be interested in investing either financially (by buying her future books) or emotionally (by worshipping her and her universe and the characters in it)

Clary was forced to watch Simon die… Then shes on the ground crying. Izzy, Alec and Jace come in the room and Jace is like “If you hurt her I swear you’ll die” but then Sebastian just says to Izzy “oh yeah. I thought you should know, your boyfriends dead. Then they freak out and kill Sebastian. Honestly tho CC said that 2 characters will die I think its almost obvious one is Sebby and one of them is probably Magnus or Simon because those characters are just so vulnerable bc their not super important

I read through some of the theories and on esaid its probaly jace thats dead because no on could fight do well with sebastian. But I think there was some kind of war and Jonathan lost and was pissed so he killed either Alec, magnus, Simon, Jorda, Jace or even luke.. And then rubbed it in their faces.
