Robert Sheehan spoke to RTE about The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, including his character Simon Lewis, explaining the story of City of Bones, filming City of Bones and he revealed that they will be filming The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes until Christmas.
“…and then it’s on to Mortal Instruments deux (two), part deux, until Christmas.”
We’ve also transcribed all the Mortal Instruments talk below!
Robert describing City of Bones and introducing his character, Simon Lewis:
The book is about a character called Clary Fray, who starts to discover magical abilities in herself and then tumbles into this crazy, dark magical world that exists in tandem with New York. She discovers a race of demon hunters called Shadowhunters, which are part human, part angel, and realizes herself that she has Shadowhunter blood. And tumbling along with her is her BFF, who’s secretly harboring feelings of love for her — Simon Lewis — and that’s who I play in the film.
On filming on the set of City of Bones:
We had a lovely kind of friend-vibe and obviously we had to do some nearly-romantic stuff, as well. Yeah, it was difficult, terribly difficult.
On working with his fellow Irishmen, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Aidan Turner:
We were all speaking in Irish on set and we were very cliquish, us Hibernian lads. It was lovely. It was really lovely.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits theaters on Aug. 21.
