Never-before-seen clip from ‘MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES’ screens at LeakyCon

A new never-before-seen clip from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones screened at LeakyCon in Portland on Saturday, June 29.

According to those in attendance, the clip was about five minutes long and featured Jace healing Clary (after the Ravener attack) and showing her through the Institute. Simon, Alec, Isabelle and Hodge were also in the clip.

Sounds like everyone in attendance was blown away by the clip!

Prior to the clip, the audience was treated to a previously-recorded Q & A session with Cassandra Clare. The panel was moderated by Bane Chronicles co-author Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman.

Any Shadowhunters attend LeakyCon? Did you see the clip? For those not at LeakyCon, how awesome does this clip sound?! Less than two months until The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits theaters on Aug. 21.

Please let me be them ;-; By the way I’m sorry guys but I’d be very surprised if anyone posted it online… @AdaptationCast said “They wouldn’t let me text during the clip” which makes me think that they probably weren’t allowed to have their phone or anything that can film in their possession while watching the clip.

    • Plus they wont because it would be so unfair to the people who paid to be there and yea…

      • See that’s the thing.
What is really unfair is that the majority of the fans leave outside the US not just Portland. And I hope you’re not suggesting that it is fair to travel all the miles from Europe to watch a 5 min clip . . .
The way I see it, it’s really selfish to say the least to think that way . . .
        Where is the solidarity???
It’s always better when you share… And there are always ways…
Oh, well I don’t even fucking care anymore if it gets posted (which it probably won’t). I’ll see everything when the movie is out.
And that wasn’t directed to you personally. But to that small group of people or any small group of people who keep to themselves to feel privileged/special/whatever…

      • Lol I should join the Justice League. (Blame it all to Kick-Ass :P)

      • *live

      • “Where is the solidarity???”

Where is thinking even more than one moment ahead?

Basically what you’re saying, Joy, is that, despite strict instructions not to leak the clip, and the explanation that LeakyCon could be sued for damages if the clip leaked, you think people ought to have leaked it anyway, thus insuring that Sony never shared another pre-release clip with another group of fans ever, anywhere. And that if there is a City of Ashes movie you can expect no fan set visits, no early clips shown to anyone, no stills given to fansites, and basically for the fans to be ignored because they obviously can’t be trusted.

Where’s the solidarity in that? I wasn’t at Leaky Con and didn’t see the clip but I am grateful to everyone for NOT LEAKING IT so that everything isn’t wrecked for the rest of us for the sake of a blurry five minutes illegally recorded on someone’s phone.

  12. Im lending out my city of bones book to those who havent read it. I want them prepared for the awesomeness of the movie. I cant wait!!!!!

  13. First of all, sounds like people genuinly like it so thats fantastic news and I can’t wait until the rest of us can see it (even if it’s when the movie premieres, I’m just excited for all of us to see the movie in general)! And second, just a question but Simon wasn’t in that scene in the book right? I mean, I understand if they had to put him in there in the movie for easier introduction purposes (honestly, I still don’t understand how Simon could see the glamours when he was human myself so portraying it like he’s always been there may make it easier on the audience and less jumbled up with all the information but then again i might have just forgotten it atm) but I’m just wondering…

  14. Need to this!!! Is the footage going to be online soon? Soon, I mean like tomorrow like the theatrical trailer?! Well keeping my fingers crossed

  15. Does anyone know when we will get to see the Clip? Because I totally want to see it!!

No one was allowed to record anything. The only reason Leaky got to see a bit was because Maureen wrote them and was like “If you show it to this audience you won’t regret it. These are the kind of people that speak up and spread the word about things they like.” She also pointed out that Sony could sue LeakyCon for damages.

    Food for thought though:

There were people from England, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand at the convention this weekend.

It would be great if they posted it online, but I can tell you that it’s honestly a random clip to show. There are no ties to any of the trailers.

  18. Well this sucks.

  19. agh please halp i can not finde the clip!!!!!
