Character description of Callum ‘Call’ Hunt from ‘Magisterium’

Aside from The Shadowhunter Chronicles, Cassandra Clare has a middle-grade fantasy series she’s co-writing with Holly Black called Magisterium, which we’re super excited about. The first book, The Iron Trial, is due out in Fall 2014 from Scholastic.

Clare shared a character description (and some fan art) of the protagonist Callum “Call” Hunt:

I guess I can start with Call? I feel odd going into detail without Holly! Call is average height for his age, but one of his legs is shorter than the other. He has had surgeries on it to correct it since he was a child but none of them worked. He leg hurts often; it’s not why he’s a cranky boy, but he is one. He has dark hair and gray eyes. He hates people commenting on his limp, he rides a skateboard sometimes, he once kidnapped a naked mole rat. Here’s Cassandra JP’s interpretation of him:

Callum Hunt

Here’s a quick description of Magisterium: The Iron Trial:

Twelve-year-old Callum Hunt has grown up knowing three rules by heart. Never trust a magician. Never pass a test a magician gives you. And never let a magician take you to the Magisterium.

Call is about to break all the rules. And when he does, his life will change in ways he can’t possibly imagine.

We are so excited to get to know Callum and the rest of the story’s characters next year!
