no offense rowena, do you like the mortal instruments? it’s great to love hunger and other books, but if you don’t like tmi why are you here? if you haven’t read tmi, i highly recommend you read them!

      • Rowena Drake // November 9, 2013 at 1:42 PM //

No offence, teamedwardjace, but liking TGH more doesn’t mean not liking TMI at all. It means I prefer the Hunger Games than the Mortal Instruments. And I’m here because I’m a TMI and TID fan.

Girls, girls! You’re both pretty! But seriously, if you choose the Hunger Games so easily, why are you here? I mean show some love to the Shadowhunters! We beat the tributes (in terms of everything, especially coolness) 101% of the time. Oh, and for all ye faithful, I think you can vote more than once. So what are you doing here?! Go vote!

Oh, yeah. And I think THG is a little heavy in romance and the whole Katniss/Peeta/Gale thing. I personally don’t like romance and love triangles make me crazy how the “strong independent heroine” usually goes for the bad boy who saves her countless times. It’s just pretty predictable how the turn out. THG could have really used an innocent, non-blood soaked breath of fresh air. Meaning it lacked much witty humor. There was the occasional relief in the form of Finnick and (sometimes) Peeta, but it was just so rare that they were safe and even able to let their guard down enough to show humor or what they are naturally like. TMI is totally dominant.

Rowen, I was not trying to be petty. I was just asking and that’s awesoem you’re fan. i love hunger games too, hp and the fallen series by lauren kate but i love tmi the most. i love twilight too but i’m just curious because you didn’t make any mention of it. so no need to get offended. its just sometimes certain fandoms may get comments on sides or content related to it, in which the person doesn’t not actually like and just wants to use to troll. granted i do sometimes wonder if something hates a certain video, why they sometimes will go back just to write how much they hate it. so no needed to be offended.

      • teamedwardjace // November 10, 2013 at 1:51 PM //

and i’m a blackthron, lol did you mean to say pretty or petty, if you mean pretty thans lol(and hey i have typo toos) i love the hunger games i o. it had some humor. tmi and id i love more. it has so much and it mixes it well and is well written with great characters. i also love the lord of the rings series , the host among other so i do consider myself to be a part of multiple fandoms.

hunger games i love you, but tmi i love you more. guys vote for for tmi like crazy!

    • Decisions decisions

    • Ok I’m going to go off topic here but first of all thanks for sticking to ur roots showing support for our fandom as usual 🙂 on the other hand I do want to talk about thg. First off I will admit that when I first heard about the hype surrounding during the time of braking dawns part 1 release I was very skeptacle and was not really into it in fact I didnt want to like it at first but over time as it got more attention and people started talking about it I gave it a shot well I watched the film first hen rest some of the first book but I stopped and got into catching fire witch is the better book by far I’m even learning about the series by reading other books that talk about it and listening to other fans input and forming my own opinions about it I’ve grown to like it and appreciate it and respect its material. Lately I’ve been going back and forth fangirling over thg and tmi I started reading tmi in May and I fell in love with it but I’m not done yet in fact in the process in prepping for COA the film I am rereading it and finishing catching fire at the same time. 🙂 man I’m busy. But anyway to make a long story short I will confirm that I admire thg but not the biggest fan of it im more of a boring quiet fan. But with tmi there’s I feel like there’s that uniqueness to it that makes it intriguing and spellbinding and in a way more light hearted and it’s mostly bc I’m a freak for fantasy but that’s just me. Anyway I chose tmi for those reasons alone and that it’s so under appreciated and deserves more praise thg as awesome as it is and has a lot of great messages about life and humanity but sometimes it’s a little too over the top and intense and the love triangle makes me want to scream and pull my hair out everyone needs to calm down oh and by the way I’m a katnis and gale shipper :). So like as much as I admire thg my vote goes to tmi. Sorry for making this long I just really wanted to let it out of my system.

      • I am a Blackthorn (in my dreams) // November 10, 2013 at 11:15 AM //

I totally agree. I so admire the Hunger Games and Suzanne Collins, the movie was okay , too. But it’s the hardcore THG fans that convinced me to vote TMI. They get a little too much into it and come across very rude, unlike us who just do it to get our beloved series more publicity and attention. So yeah. TMI all the way.

  7. -le sigh- THG is going to win. And personally, I don’t think it deserves it. Mockingjay was downright terrible, in my opinion. And I just never really connected to or liked any of the characters besides Peeta.

Personally, I think Katniss is an annoying, oblivious, and a way too stand-offish heroine, and I think she’s overrated. The only thing she ever had going for her was the Prim thing, but seeing as how they kill her in MJ (and ruin the entire point of the series for me by doing so), there’s not even that. And then the fact that she wants to have a HG with the Capitol’s kids for that… I’m sorry, but what? How can you like a character like that? Even though I get WHY she feels that way, it still drives me insane.

This series had a LOT of problems, and it sort of annoys me that a lot of people ignore them, just because all the “glorious themes and political slander” in these books. For one thing, these books NEVER should have been in first person. They really suffered from it, and we didn’t even get to see the whole story like we should have. Katniss was the face of the Rebellion not the Rebellion itself (and not an even great one at that, as Peeta was the one good at talking and rallying people up). We should have seen more of what was going on behind scenes, and more about District 13, etc., but instead Collins focused on an unneeded love triangle, that hurt her narrative very, very much by doing so.

Another thing about this series is that… I really don’t remember anyone ever developing or changing at all. Not really, anyway, and as someone who needs character development in my stories, that doesn’t sit well with me. And I feel like this series took itself way too seriously. And, yes. I know that was the point. Yes, I know they’re dealing with big issues. But put SOME sort of humor or light-heartedness in there somewhere, so I can like these characters and want them to win such a light-hearted life.

Something else that has always bothered me about these books, is that they always follow the same formula, and it’s very repetitive. As much as I love HP, it somewhat did the same thing (with Harry starting out at the Dursley’s, something weird happening to them, going to Hogwarts afterwards, then going home for the summer after some sort of Voldermort thing, etc.).

We have Katniss’ crappy life in District Twelve, her getting thrown into THG somehow and someway, her spending most of the book in THG (for much too long, I think), then all the minor characters are mostly killed off so our heroes can live there (which is another thing: I don’t get how anyone likes the Tributes so much. We barely see them at all, and you know from the get-go they’re going to die, which is quite annoying), and finally Katniss gets saved somehow. Blah blah blah. I feel like every time I read these books, I’m desperately waiting for them to get into THG (which, you know, is what you know’s going to happen, and what the story’s supposed to be about), only to get there and desperately want out, as it’s so over dramatized, it tries too hard to be dark and gritty, etc.

And you know what: THG as a movie bored me to death. How people can sit there waiting forever for Katniss to cut down the Tracker-Jacker branch, I have no idea, but it almost made me cry. I swear that people only got into THG, because they were looking for “the next big thing”…

Though one thing I will say, is that the movie’s actually better than the book, because it has things with President Snow, that we should have seen in the damned novel! Still… I do have issues with the movie, as I thought it was very, VERY slow (which works for a book, but not a film), and the fact I can’t enjoy it, for the kids killing each other. And, yes, once again, I know that’s the point: to show how awful it is, and what our society can become if we don’t watch ourselves. But reading it and seeing it are two entirely different things. I can read it just fine, but watching it makes me want to vomit, even though I know what message it’s trying to convey.

Look, I’m sorry for ranting and offending anyone if I did, but honestly, I’ve been wanting to get this off my chest for a long time now. You might not believe me now, but I actually DO LIKE THG and CF books for the most part, but Mockingjay made me lose all respect for this series, honestly. And I’m SO tired of people treating this like it’s god’s gift to literature, when I think it has a lot of mistakes to it.

In my opinion, TMI is much better than THG, because it has different things going for it, different formulas, something for everyone, fun characters that grow (and are multi-layered), etc. That’s not to say I’m oblivious to TMI’s flaws, though. Like, CoFA was pretty terrible. Not gonna lie. And CoLS does have its issues for me (as well as how CC portrays Jace and Clary’s relationship, in general), but these things I can overlook a lot more than THG’s flaws, and mostly enjoy the series as a whole. So, yes. I think TMI deserves to win this, and get much more attention/respect than it has at the moment. But will it? Of course not. -le sigh-

    • I think THG and TMI/TID are by far the best series ever written (with Twilight and The Dark Divine Trilogy right behind) and I cant choose which one is better. Although I agree with you on some things and it is totally right for you to say your opinions, I don’t see how you can hate THG so much. I agree that Prim and a lot of the other favorite characters dying made the last book kinda disappointing, but if you think about it, the whole series is completely genius. It makes you think really hard about what you would do in the situations that Katniss and the others are put in and whether violence should ever be the answer. (another great book with that message is Revolver, by Marcus Sedgwick)

    • Apart from the Harry Potter thing, I agree with everything you just said. TMI by far the better series

    • Well, I do like Katniss. It’s a far deeper character than Clary and all her reactions are perfectly understandable beacause she’s been broken by the Capitol AND the rebellion. I like TMI and it’s why I’m here, but I like THG better because I simply think it’s better. There is no contradiction in this, you can love both of the series but think that one is better than the other. I don’t say THG is perfect, because it’s not, but Katniss is a great, uncommon character in a YA novel in my opinion.

  8. “then all the minor characters are mostly killed off so our heroes can live there”. “There” is a typo in that sentence. Just ignore it, and sorry for that confusing mistake I made. LOL. Obviously, we know the characters weren’t living in the Arena, after the other Tributes died. XD

  9. Oh No. HG FORGIVE ME. I have to fight for my life (tmi xD)
    I’M SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. TMI all the way. Somebody help Divergent Trilogy win.

  11. of couse TMI had to go agains THG lol… i vote for the underdog TMI

  12. People have to vote. The hunger games is dominating TMI

  13. I actually hated THG… even though TMI is losing badly… it’s better that THG in my heart! ;^;

  14. Why does everything have to always be such a competition? I’m sorry but like it’s really getting on my last nerves, like seriously I am just so sick and tired of this shit. I am really sick and fed up with all these really awesome stories get pinned against each other it’s stupid. And I don’t mean to sound blunt or be meanspirited but like who cares, honest to god who cares about this whole thing it’s just a silly poll. We shouldnt take this seriously bc it is what it is, and thats it. I mean it’s not about how many votes this book gets or how popular it is every fanbase is different every fanbase is loyal and passionate in their own way it’s not about winning or being on top its not about that. It’s about loving the story loving this book loving that series because its special to you and all that. If you like more than one book or series than ok, if you prefer over the other fine. But then move on let’s not be so over dramatic and put too much emphasis on it. It’s just silly. Again I don’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings but like im just being really honest here, it’s just a poll or whatever I think we should all be happy and be lucky that we have these amazing stories to read and fangirl or fanboy over whether they are household names or not. Who cares. In fact we should all be grateful that we even have these stories and we have really amazing authors who take time out of their lives to create them, let’s be thankful that we have the movies for the most part, let’s be thankful for what we have instead of making everything into a competition and stop criticisizing each other because it does no good. Ok, i don’t mean to ramble on but like i think we all need to relax and not stress over it bc its not a big deal. Thats not important. The important thing is that we do have these stories to read and cherish and come together as a fandom and make really good friendships that’s more important than any silly contest or poll anyday. Ok im going to shut up now.

    • Thank you, Miranda!!! I don’t see why fans have the need to compete. It’s irrelevant, rather rude and bloody ridiculous. I don’t care if you like TMI over THG, or vice versa. Some events, or writing, or thought process in novels might turn you off which someone may love. But that does no give anyone the right to bash another fandom. We like what we like and we shouldn’t be bickering over this. Bloody sakes it’s a poll. My god, I wish Internet squabbles never existed.

  15. Just because THG is more well known than TMI 😦

  16. I don’t even need to think about for what I’m gonna vote. Of course it’s TMI, I loved these books, more than any other ♥ There’s just one other series, that might haven gotten my “heart”, it’s the starcrossed trilogy.

  17. We all have to face facts THG is the more fashionable series at the moment and therefore will probably destroy us 😦 I for one will be voting TMI all the way to the bitter end! Don’t get wrong I liked THG but it just doesn’t grip me and I hate to say it but I got a little bored. And don’t talk to me about the mess that was Mockingjay. I remain a loyal TMI fan and will be voting as such

  18. Damn it:( thg won…

  19. Hight Warlock of Oakey // November 11, 2013 at 5:38 AM // Reply

. . . . TMI ALL THE WAY FOR LIFE. THG are good but I mean Katniss-Clary, Peeta-Jace. I have my reasons for it being tmi mainly cus there’s Malec and Sizzy.

  20. TMI is so boring, SO GO THG!
