E! Online asks what YA franchise has the fiercest heroine?

E! Online asked which Young Adult franchise has the fiercest heroine? Here’s what they had to say about The Mortal Instruments‘ Clary Fray.

Clary Fray, The Mortal Instruments (Lily Collins)

Strengths: The Shadowhunter can see monsters mortals can’t—which comes in handy when they’re trying to kill her and the people she loves. Clary also possesses the ability to create new runes because of the extra angel blood running through her veins.

Weaknesses: Clary can be quite stubborn at times. Not long after her mother goes missing, she learns that her father, Jonathan Rhys Meyers‘ Valentine Morgenstern, has been experimenting on the Downworlders and demons, making him one of the most dangerous men she’s ever encountered. For a time, she even believed that that her boyfriend, Jamie Campbell Bower‘s Jace Lightwood, might be her biological brother. Talk about a head-trip!

I know I’m going to catch hell for saying this but out of the three pictured, Katniss is the fiercest.

We don’t really see Clary’s badass-ery in COB. Yeah she had moments but nothing compared to Katniss. Clary doesn’t really start showing her strengths, both mental and physical, until later in the series.

And the fact that they call Jace her boyfriend goes to show that they really don’t understand their true dynamic. They weren’t boyfriend/girlfriend in the movie, let alone the book until much much later. Another clear sign that the movie didn’t portray how awesomely tense and angst-y it was.

I liked the movie but it had the potential to be so much more. I just hope they get the second one right if they do go ahead with it.

    • I am 100% with you! Clary doesn’t embrace her badassness until later. Making Katniss the victor in this round. But if you were basing this off City of Lost Souls and Mocking Jay the results MIGHT differ.

      • I’ve been reading this book called the girl who was on fire which talks about the hunger games saga and from what I’ve been reading as much as there are qualities to katnis that make her likable there are other things about her that are unlikable there are times that she can come off to insensitive and have a lie self esteem but even despite those flaws she’s very realistic and ultimately tries to overcome her obstacles she may have been broken down by the end of mocking jay but in the end she chooses to live her life and make the best of it she is a survivor and a fighter in every sense if the world she represents us a society bc this is what we do everyday we live our lives despite all the problems we have and we make the best of it and we have something worth living or fighting for sorry if I’m being off topic on a completely different person and this conversation belongs elsewhere but it’s just something I’ve been wanting to say for a while or rather recently since my focus has shifted back and forth to tmi and thg they’re both epic stories and have two amazing girls despite the flaws that they have bc everyone has them ok I’m going to stop before I make this post into a book

I totally agree with you even Bella was bad ass in Twilight. But I did like the movie (TMI) but love the books.

  2. To be honest, I would call Izzy the ‘fierce’ one in TMI, not Clary.

I’d say the fiercest is Katniss. She isn’t my favourite character in THG but she’s the fiercest heroine I’ve ever met.

Sorry Clary, but I agree with everyone else. This one goes to Katniss.

  5. im going with clary fray. she is just so brave and fierce.

I love how absolutely no one has considered Bella. lmao. Sorry Bella, snagging a boyfriend does not make you fierce and it does not make you a heroine either.

For me it’s Clary but she gets even fiercer as the series progresses

  8. Katniss!!! I think all three are good but I still have to go with katniss. if Tessa was one of the choices I wouldn’t be able to choose

  9. If we were talking about the last twilight movie than I would say Bella by the way she Fought the voltory. But otherwise I say katniss because clary, she played in THG and was in danger of dying multiple times.
