Cassandra Clare announces titles of ‘Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy’

While on her UK tour for City of Heavenly Fire, Cassandra Clare shared that she and some of her author friends will be writing short stories about Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments. During the London Q & A and our following interview, Cassie told us the tentative title and now she has taken to her tumblr to announce the 10 titles of Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy

I’m holding off also on saying too much about Academy until we nail down dates — it will be ten stories, like the Bane Chronicles, and like the Bane Chronicles will end up as a print book eventually. The stories cover Simon’s arrival at the Academy through to his Ascension Ceremony, but a lot of them also time-hop: back to 1830, 1893, 1900, to the time of the Circle and some switch perspectives. I’ll say more when we make the actual announcement but for now have the list of titles to play with!

1) Welcome to the Shadowhunter Academy.

2) The Lost Herondale.

3) The Whitechapel Fiend.

4) Nothing But Shadows

5) The Evil We Love

6) Pale Kings and Princes

7) Bitter of Tongue

8) The Fiery Trial

9) Born to Endless Night

10) Angels Twice Descending

Judging from the tags on tumblr, Robin Wasserman will be joining Cassie, Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan. Sarah reblogged the post and sneakily added: “did you see the clue“.

Futhermore, Cassie also briefly talked about The Secret Treasons, the graphic novel project about the Circle:

Well, TST is a big art project, so, it happens when it happens. I don’t know when it’ll be exactly.

Who is excited for Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy and what do you think is the clue? Sound off in the comments!

  1. I totally called “The Last Herondale” on an Instagram post I made 45 weeks ago when I thought it would stand for the new series initialed “TLH” but it’s the title of the 2nd book of this new series so I was pretty damn close enough! 🙂

    • Same here, but I thought it was the Lost Herondale, because there are several Herondales in TLH, so I can see into the future 0.0 Omg, I can see into the future…

It took me forever to understand TLH doesn’t mean the last Herondale. I had assumed that for so long I couldn’t quite believe it was the last hours and what’s up with that? I have, obviously, fallen behind does anyone know if the last hours will actually be about the last hours of Nephilim. I’ve heard it’s supposed to be like TID’s kids’ stories. I suppose I’m trying to ask if it will seriously be about James and Lucie’s POV on The day Will died? Or the Lightwood relatives and children when Gideon, Gabriel , Cece, or Sophie die. That would be an amazing story but very, very depressing.
Also, is that “the clue” something about missing Herondales or, Is the clue in the poetry? Anybody? I am completely okay with spoilers-to an extent, please don’t write a plot summary that takes away the purpose of reading the book it’s so detailed just a simple answer will do. Thank you.

  2. I think it’s going way overboard now..:(

  3. I’m excited for these, as I really do want more of a resolution on what happened with Simon, but I don’t know if I like authors other than Cassie penning some of these.

Also… I thought this book was just supposed to be about Simon (and I’d kind of prefer it that way, tbh). I mean, let the boy have his time in the sun all ready. He more than deserves it after everything he’s been through. Especially since the books after the first TMI trilogy were originally supposed to be about him, but he ended up getting usurped by Jace and Clary again in them.

Nonetheless, I’m probably going to finally cave and by a Kindle just for these. Whilst I didn’t have to know what happened in the Bane Chronicles immediately–and am rather waiting for the printed edition to read them–I do want to know Simon’s Shadowhunter story as soon as possible:)

    • Shanna, you actually do not have to buy a Kindle just for these. Amazon has a lot of Kindle reading apps and you could use one of these.

      • Huh. I had no idea about that! Thanks a bunch for the info, Cathrin. I really appreciate it:D I mean, while I don’t mind the idea of having a Kindle, it’s just not something that I HAVE to have, you know? So I think I might just hold off a bit longer on buying one.

Anyway, thanks again!:) I might just go buy the Bane Chronicles now…

I can’t wait to read all of these series. Cassandra Clare is absolutely amazing writing all these books and making a new world in our already existing one.

  7. Don’t worry, I got the clue (Pale Kings and princes aka the name of one of the chapters in Clockwork Angel!!!) Can’t wait to read these!!

  8. Reblogged this on The Silver Screen Experience and commented:
Ever since these were announced I was anxious to know the titles for the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy

  9. I know the clue. Most of these are the names of poems Cassie has put in some of her books. I also know the precise book most of the poems were in. I’m guessing that the book that poem was in will have to do something with that story.

    • Tell us more, Elisa 🙂

That’s interesting i know that all the chapter titles in the TID books are from those poems at the beginnings of the chapters. I just remembered #6 Pale Kings and Princes was the chapter at DeQuincey’s party… Also the one called Born to Endless Night also sounds like it has something to do w vampires

  10. Bitter Of Tongue is the poem in COA right before she starts the book.
